But what if I WANT to pay for it? Are SDKs like anti-viruses? Is CryEngine 3's SDK more of a norton, or a mcafee, would you say?
So, like, how do I actually use this thing. I made an account, ran the launcher, and logged in, and now I'm staring at a thousand poly eyeball logo and the launcher's using all of a single cpu core, and it's just sitting there, with nothing going on.
Finally a good concurrent for the UDK ? We will see... ![]()
[EDIT] Well, not a good start, the editor kill my color profiles on all my monitor at launch. ![]()
Oh hell yes!
i've been putting off new environment art projects until this comes out.
Goodbye weekend!
C++ interface is also awesome! I can use my favorite libraries without any funky porting ![]()

Alt-tab and notice the EULA agreement.

The sandbox for both Crysis and Crysis 2 do that to me as well. My fix is to open up Nvidia's control panel and clicking 'Use Nvidia Settings'.
It launches for me but after I put in my password and username it just hangs and eventually has a dialog saying "TODO: has stopped working". Closing that kills the password manager which in turn causes the engine to stop loading.
As I wrote this it suddenly started working. I'm guessing the server is just getting hammered right now.
EDIT: It seems a bit hit and miss, it works about every 2-3 tries
So where are the best resources for learning your way around CryEngine/Sandbox?
So where is my email with account activation? ![]()

Regarding account login, if you signed up to Crymod already, use that as your login, I was able to get in with no problems. Otherwise it might take a little while for activation emails and what not to get to you due to high traffic on the servers.

Thank you sir, time to start reading!
Nice! Give Epic some competition ![]()
So I hope Frostbite is next to release... I REALLY wanna see this as it's true what people say about BF3 and its visuals. Real visuals.
Yay, works for me.. on my old computer ![]()
I think the second coming of Christ is more likely than a Frostbite SDK any time soon. ![]()
Too bad, I heard that may studios got fingers on it and it's ass kicking...

Where did you hear that? I remember seeing a video with a producer from BF3 specifically stating they didn't have any plans to license Frostbite. But yeah, a Frostbite SDK would be sweet. It's the best looking engine out there imo, BC2 looks fantastic.
Regarding CE3: It's by far the most accessible engine I have ever used. Being able to completely skip lightmap baking and seeing those sweet real-time shadows as soon as you import your meshes is priceless ![]()
