Why have they moved to them anyway? ESL One Cologne/MY or dreamhack Cluj Napoka (something like that) were plenty fine. It seems that they wanted to make all American majors to please don't know who and made it suck so hard in the process..
Just saw the new version of Dust II (yeah a bit late buddy...I know ^^). I don't know how it plays (?) but I really like this new look of the map, it feels fresh and nice ! Will it be done for Dust ?
Valve never mentioned a remake of Dust so far (afaik), but I hope it's planned anyway.
Logic says they could use the same assets and quite quickly push Dust out.
Would also make sense considering Dust is not in the competitive mapcycle, so you don’t want to spend too much effort/resources.
I don’t like Dust, but for the salendo of art I’d like to see it remade with possibly another desert theme, providing the community with new assets.
I dunno if it’s worth reworking to make it viable for competitive, guess would look so different that it would just be nice if someone could make Dust 3 giving everyone some fresh air.
I was asking myself (after a run in the map during my lunch time)...are we always on the same engine ? I'm joking...but...the visuals are really impressive and the number of props too Ô_o
I just played the new dust2. The pilars etc. are square now which I really dislike. I hope they will give it a really small bevel. Before you could bounce flashes of it really well when entering tunnels from t spawn or going short etc. Now this is gone. A really small bevel on the edges could bring this back.
Also taking long from t spawn is a lot harder now. I hope they add some holes or windows to throw flashes threw.

really disliked this trio of players when I watched the major that took place this past summer.
They got what they deserved. Really sucks for boltz and steel though.

I think this indicates rules should be reviewed. Achievements are a team effort not a player's? I mean I can see some reasons why it's set this way but this case shows rules are not perfect. Those that are disqualified/suspended shouldn't be able to stroll in a different organisation with less integrity and play the tournament. You pull some shit like this and you lose your entitlement and need to go back square one.
This is the kind of thing that makes a real sport.

What an update. On the one hand I am glad they added some new maps (even though I really don't get why Austria and Insertion over stuff like Santorini or Season), on the other hand... just removing Militia (even though they reworked parts of it) and classics like Aztec and Dust from the entire games feels just wrong. Was that really needed? I mean, they could have just made a new Community Rotation instead of removing things.
Still not sure if the new modes will work out in the end, but at least they add new content to the game. Speaking of which... why do none of the new modes, weapons, maps they added after the initial release have any achievements? ![]()
It seems Valve is kinda lazy with their implementation here.

I'm betting they removed the maps they could so they don't have to think about visually updating them later. All the maps removed are old and look old.

Still, I always feel sad when initial content is removed. And yes, I actually played Aztec and Militia....
The Trust system could be cool - dont know if it could be exploited though. I really dont get why they actually delete the old maps. you cant even start them through console 0o I actually played militia and aztec / vertigo from time to time. I cant stand playin the same maps over and over again. Im really happy for the guys who got their maps into the game - but i don get why its austria and insertion (agency should have been in the game long time ago) - maybe lite and thrill where to complex for most of the community ![]()
Really appreciate they made paid content available to everyone.
Gave a quick spin to flying scoutsmen mode and was not too bad. I see the appeal (pity the dedicated map came only once).
I didn’t even notice some maps got removed, and won’t miss Aztec or Dust… who was ever playing those? It would be great if this makes some Aztec inspired custom maps of interest to the community
