I don't believe that they have/will change the voting system mid-game, but hopefully this is enough to get people to at least try out the other maps :)

I played a DM on Train today when I tested it, was pretty surprised. Obviously half of the server left and the map afterwards was Dust 2 again with 80+% of the votes, but nobody attempted to change the map to Dust 2. It's hilarious how the level of some people drops when they are not on D2, though... are some people really only playing 1 map?!

Next step will be fixing jumping accuracy that sort of things maybe?

As for the new voting system, dust 2 officiniados seem to embrace surprisingly well the change. How long has it been since we asked for it though... ?

Now weapons with low ammo will make a specific noise to warn the player that the ammo is running out. Literally unplayable according to Reddit...

Well, it IS super distracting and the enemies can hear it as well...

I wouldn't mind if it was some optional thing only you could hear and that could be toggled on/off, though.

I agree, I really do. I just believe that people overreact to a lot of updates nowadays :P

You can only hear others' low ammo sounds from about 1-16 units away. It has a really hard falloff. Otherwise, it's a great quality of life update. The sound should be changed to a quieter one, though. The current one sounds really bad (like all pre-update CS:GO sounds! The game's initial sound design was/is atrocious!)

    See? It's really not bad!

The gun sound updates are so good. The negev is the only weapon I've ever heard anyone actually discourage for sound reasons. Hopefully the next wave can tackle the AK and AWP, those are some particularly bad sounds.

It's the frenquency truncation/artificating that gets me. I'd like to be able to tweak different sound levels in game too- certain players etc.

Fair enough, but you can easily achieve a similar effect with much less cues. Just toggle the sound at the very last bullet or when you try to shoot with no bullet in the magazine.. and make it less loud and obnoxious. Also, should the silenced weapons really make such a loud as well? This might be another neat way to balance M4A4 and M4A1-S.

I agree that the sound updates for the guns in general are welcomed because a lot of guns sound bad atm.

I feel like i am the only person who likes the AK sound. I don't like the plastic gun sounds of several other FPS games.

Here's the problem: [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/9z4YvLC.png]

This is the AK's firing sound's waveform displayed in Audition. It constantly hits the peak (thus the sound "clips"), which causes a slight click, as the sound cannot be reproduced correctly. This results in terrible distortion, and the sound is simply difficult to listen to. It's like if a model's vertices were chopped off past a certain distance. It's pretty mind blowing that this shipped.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/2eA4b77.png]

Here's the new Negev's waveform. It only clips in a few tiny spots in one of the channels (a single place in the other!), resulting in a much easier sound to listen to.

The sound's signature shouldn't change very much. The goal of these updates is to make the game easier to listen to for longer.

There are quite a few nice, overlooked maps imho. Obviously stuff like Gellert or Waterfall will be priorized, but maps like abyss, neutron and Cistern deserve a fair shot as well - especially Cistern, one of my favourite old maps on the workshop.

In any case, I am excited for the new operation maps.
