I can run this game almost at whatever setting I want without GPU taking a hit, but I just can't make it look as crystal clear and big as in those lower resolutions. I haven't experimented a lot with super sampling etc. but small tests didn't make it as good at least.

I'll have to believe you on that, because I can't test that without frying my card :)

About cache, it will be included after a few feedback since it's basically the same map bit with better graphics and reworked visibility

ah! now that you say it! thought was a grenade, since there's the "deploy flashbang" audio. Haven't been playing CS for way too long

I started playing competitive a couple days ago.

Pro: I really like 5v5, people talking, and thinking about what they're doing instead of the entire team randomly rushing to guard one site. The increased expenses due to having to buy armor and defuse kits, and reduced headcount, means less money and thus less AWPs.

Con: Goddamn "cooldown to calibrate matchmaking". I keep ending up having to go play in casual, and hating it.

Also today two ten year olds were trying to co-lead the team and the two teenagers who filled out the rest of the spots not me were mocking them, meaning we went an entire game without actual functional calls or hearing. The boys both quit the game (receiving tempbans) 30 minutes in when someone suggested they were a couple, and we went on to tie the game with two bots. Fun times.

In the workshop spotlight, there literally is a map from someone trolling, with 5 stars rating... What's wrong with that game and community?

    lmao, CS:GO in a nutshell.

I love their competitive mode tho, it's what CS is all about.

The new updates for Cache looks great!

Nuke got some minor improvements as well. I fully agree with the removal of the stack of crates that used to be here! It was way to limiting for CT's since they couldn't peek silo without being fully exposed from some other angle. Hopefully this will shift yard to be a bit less T-sided again.

While I feel somewhat reluctant to voice opinions on overarching balance mechanics in a game with this many players and pros, I have been playing CS for almost a decade now, and I feel pretty confident in saying that goddamn players looking down scopes need to actually have getting shot hurt their aim. Currently, when you're in that slowed movement period after taking a bullet you have slightly increased recoil, but that does absolutely nothing to AWPers, who'll take six rounds to the chest and with 2HP turn around and instakill you like they're the goddamn Terminator. Landing a couple chip shots from distance while rushing with a shorter ranged weapon like a pistol should do at least a little to help my survivability in that desperate moment, instead of being laughably futile. Maybe not full on suppression effects like in Battlefield, mostly because those are complicated, but I think it would be very intuitive for "oh, I got shot, a bullet passing through my goddamn body messed up my aim a bit" to be the case.

In general, sure, I'm biased against snipers. Fuck snipers, they're not fun to play against (oh, I was killed without even being able to see the guy before he killed me. Or, oh, I killed that guy effortlessly because he was scoped at a chokepoint so he could kill someone else without them seeing it coming), they're not fun to be in multiplayer (imo), and I hate every casual game having a third to over a half of my teammates staring in a trance down the longest sightline of the map instead of actually playing the objectives and noticing the rest of the game's existence. I'm in favor of anything that would encourage more people to just buy the fucking AK and be a team player, even if it wasn't technically balanced. But I still think this idea has merit. :D

Edit: To be fair, that sniper overwatch has been useful in exactly one competitive game I played, where the T player watching down the ramp on Dust2 called out how many CTs ran over towards B, which was super helpful. He didn't just spend the entire round taking potshots at any flicker of movement until someone shot him back. But that was only the one time, sadly.

I finally this morning reached enough Comp wins to get ranked: Silver 4. Aww, yeah.

I've been playing a bunch of the Wildfire missions lately, and kinda fucking hate them, especially the ones that limit your weapons to stupid ones like sniper rifles (or especially the multiple missions that are SCOUT ONLY FFFFFFFFF). Also, Tulip is way, way too visually busy and because it's dark and blue CT gets a huge camouflage bonus compared to the white-clad T team. The snow in Royal screws with visibility on the minimap. The other maps are pretty good, though, especially Mikla and Santorini, imo.

Also it's feels really weird to have weapon cases locked behind a $7 DLC that still need a $2.50 key to open. In general, the value of the purchase is questionable. The way it's communicated, I don't even know if that money went to the map makers for the community maps, or if it's all for the minor mission scripting and a couple dozen lines of VO.
