    I wanted to ask, how many matches you have to win, while having the top score of the match mainly everytime, in order to rank up?

    I've ranked up when bottom fragging, top scoring doesn't necessarily mean you're better, as some roles/play-styles get less points (A lurker will not plant the bomb as often as a support player entering the bombsite with the entry fragger.) Of course these roles are never really that defined when you're pugging, but if you play with someone frequently you can start to understand how the other person plays, you can define roles more easily. Anyway to answer the question of how many wins to rank up, seems to be averagely around 6 wins in a row in my experience but higher ranks may require more.

    @Pampers my max ping is set to 65 (but apparently higher than that mid game is ok -_- ), which should be fine, but when people are clocking in at 5, that's when there's an issue.

    DMG games for me were usually 5v5 all DMG, when you get past that, the ranks are a bit more varied between the top 3 ranks again.

    I'm seeing LEM players who are playing auto shotgun on banana, round after round, pushing and dying, or baiting out friends, have no idea when to rotate, don't use nades, and don't call anything despite even being on TS with me. I would seriously not put this guys play beyond a gold nova rank. it's totally nuts.

    @laminutederire there's no steadfast measure on how many matches you need to win to rank up. It seems to depend on the difficulty of the match, and even then only to a point. If you are silver going up against 5 global elites and somehow win, I think matchmaking has some sort of anti-boost system to stop you progressing 10 ranks after winning that game.

    My understanding was always that matchmaking predicts a certain outcome for the game, and you gain/lose progress to the next rank based on how you perform compared to that prediction.

    I asked because I seem to be stuck in silver, I know I'm not a god but I figured that top fragging would suffice in silver ranks because it is an anarchy very often, so there is not much roles to have there, as it is hard enough to make your team understand that when you lose 5 times in a row on mirage when terrorists go to B, but you're still the only one there, and you can manage to kill half the team before getting killed but they manage to lose because they do not check any angles etc.. I was at five in a row yesterday, but we got owned by two global elite smurf.. anyway all that to say that in silver players usually play randomly, and I'm desperate to play with players who want to play as a team!

    join us on the mapcore teamspeak, im sure we can get a game together alternatively, im happy to queue with you and a few of your friends to help out, and i don't mean in the uber smurf, carry sense. i mean help you get some understanding of the game, act as an in game leader for it. however, my french is bad... d'accord?

    Well playtest showed me I'd have things to learn from you guys, so I'd be happy to! (And I wasn't too much of burden, excepting yesterday on de_farm, where I quite didn't get the hang of how it was supposed to be played). And I have literally no friends playing Fps, they all play Dota 2 or League of legends, that is sad I know!

    I speak English with a french accent, I just have to set up a speaking system. I think the webcam mic from my laptop isn't enough to be understood very clearly?

    You have? What name do you use on steam? I generally try and nickname people from mapcore with their forum name to keep track. Did you add the right account?

    The mic array on your laptop should be fine, but they're usually very sensitive so I would encourage you to use a push-to-talk method, otherwise we will likely hear you typing and possibly even ourselves if you don't use a headset/headphones. Nothing quite like a feedback loop to wake you up in the morning! lol

    I think so, I'll check. Jackophant I have was online 11 days ago, but if you're one of those who prefer to always be offline, that'd explain.

    Be wary of teamspeak "update" files. They can be used to hijack your steam account.

    First off report AMILWA(http://steamcommunity.com/id/Amilwaromyyyy) for phishing/scamming.

    Earlier today I got a virus from a teamspeak update file. Basically what happened is - someone around my rank added me to play. They asked me to come into teamspeak. I never use TS but I went ahead and dl'd it. It asks me to update so I click download and run the file. Apparently this was the virus file. Immediately I realized something was fishy because it wasn't updating or perform any sort of function. I get a message from the guy going "I had to update, you too?". Then I put the pieces together and realized what was going on. I managed to trade off my items to my brother's account and lock my account in time. Within minutes he was logged into my Yahoo, Gmail and Microsoft accounts. He was even logged into my recovery gmail account. By the time he had set up email confirmations on trading to be "off" I had already locked my account and traded off my items.

    I used hitmanpro to find the virus and delete it and then reinstalled windows.

    So, remember if someone asks you to play and INSISTS that you use teamspeak - think again. If playing w/o teamspeak isn't an option then ditch them. I've never used teamspeak before today so I was probably the perfect victim as the "update file" looked totally legit to me. Still feel dumb for falling for this.

    Teamspeak is fine. Did the guy you were talking to provide you with the link to download the files? He probably sent you a fake link to a fake Teamspeak site. You then download what you think is Teamspeak but really it's a virus.

    I've had some guy try this before with some weird looking MMO VOIP client. Never heard of it and he was very adamant he could not use any other client and that I should download that one to play with them. Thought better of it and blocked and reported the guy. He got to my friend though before I could say anything and he installed the client. Within second his entire inventory had gone. He managed to get it all back though thanks to Valve.

    Basically, don't click on links people send you in Steam!

    even if it's someone you get on with really well google the version number and download from the company directly (obviously using common sense to check for dodgy sites)

    Yeah seriously, Teamspeak is fine if you download from the actual website. Maybe someone hosting the server on their own computer could do something malicious, but whenever you download from the website you always get the latest version.

    TS does have an update pop up, but it's as you launch the application and not when connecting to a server and never miraculously as the same person you are talking to (unless you both launch it simultaneously)

    Well the thing is he didn't send me a link at any point he just said to download teamspeak and join a certain server. I downloaded teamspeak off of the official website. I had never used TS before, I just entered in his connection info. The thing telling me to update seemed reasonable, then again, I had never used TS. The server would disconnect me and then tell me that the server was using a higher version or w/e. When he kept asking if I had to update ("I had to update you too?, make sure you update etc etc.) over and over I quickly realized it was a scam. Although at that point I had already downloaded the file. I realize it was a fake update file and not the official one distributed by the official teamspeak - but this all happened on a legit installation of teamspeak which made it much less noticeable.
