    I mostly agree with what he said. Pistols are way too random atm.

    He probably mentions this in the video (can't watch at work) but in 1.6 only 2-3 pistols were viable. the rest were basically fluff.

    TL;DR: Pistols are too powerful, make them weaker so more skill is required.


    I'm trying to think of a way to balance them, possibly with a points based system, but I keep stumbling across more and more variables with which to consider and it's becoming a lot more convoluted... I thought I could work it out quickly here, but I think I need to come back with something... probably a spreadsheet with lots of graphs...

    I think his understanding of what people probably mean when they say "viable" is off, for example if I use viable it would purely mean that there is some circumstance where each gun is useful and worth having. I don't think counter strike will ever hit that, the gunplay isn't built that way.

    I don't see it in the immediate future, maybe not ever. We're pretty stuck on BSP at this point, plus we just got a new voice codec. Switching engines would be a massive undertaking at this point, especially with all of the community stuff that would need to be fixed.

    At some point they will have to port it to source 2, it would be wiser than creating a new counter-strike, because of all the content previously created and the time and mostly money some have put in it!

    If it involves this website, we could imagine them to try and have an official server just like the one for playtesting, which does wonder here.
