Wow, I couldn't watch any game today, just got home and twitter was on fire. I almost can't believe this really happened

I hope they get banned from CS alltogether. Good riddance.

There's a lot of discussion whether it's pixelwalking or not, but in all fairness, I think most people know what it really is. But even if it's not, they also broke another rule (# 7):

I doubt it really breaks 7, the wall in question didn't allow any increased visibility or anything. Frankly, that rule is poorly written. I don't think the spirit of the rule is against when a wall 50 feet out of the map is nodraw'd.

But hey, we're dealing with reddit so we might as well say they broke the last rule because they have custom configs and flusha is hacking etc.

I based that off of pictures I came across on Twitter, which apparantly originated from reddit and were "staged" by someone trying to recreate what crapmeister could see, and thereby are not 100% correct.

I really should've put a bit more research into that, so that's my bad. Just finished watching the 2nd half of the game and there doesn't seem to be abuse of transparant or penetratable walls.

That being said, I still thing think Fnatic should gtfo. They knew the rules in advance, they broke them by intent, so they don't even deserve a rematch (or rematch of 2nd half for that matter) imo.

This is arguably the most debated <1 unit in the history of the Half-Life universe:

I totally agree that it could be called pixelwalking, and that spot was entirely bs. I just hate what reddit turned it into. I can totally see how it could be called legit/a problem with the map (the post looks like a place you could step on, without looking at collision), for all we know, fnatic thought it was just a shit spot. Nothing to start insulting people over.

There are rumours out there that Fnatic found out about this two months ago and instead of reporting it they tried to kept it to themselves and asked someone who uploaded the "exploit" on youtube to remove it (that's still gossip though for the time being).
Then again, apparantly another guy has reported this "bug" to VALVe many months ago, got a reply it was fixed, but apparantly it wasn't. In the end you don't know what is fact and what is not.

Anyhow, it's obviously not an intended spot. Maybe all this fuss just boils down to these 1 unit vertices going offgrid sometimes when saving and reloading a vmf.

One fact I know for sure: VALVe never reply.

Unfortunately for Fnatic that looks a lot like a "pixel-boost", since it's a tiny pixel sliver in the world geometry.

I don't think they can get away with it.

edit: It has been announced that the game will be replayed, with the score at 12-3 for LDLC

edit2: now Fnatic has filed a counter-complaint about an LDLC boost.

Fnatic filing a counter-complaint is making this quite interesting "6 hours after the game". Tactics?

End result: map will be replayed. I think it's the right outcome, but it's very unpopular because people reasonably feel that Fnatic's boosts were worse and had more of an impact on the game.

I think it's better to send a clear message going forward than to eliminate either team.

someone posted the boost on reddit a while back, surprising Valve never did anything.

Well, not really the place to post bug reports…

    Quote from FMPONE

A couple top players got VAC bans. That's all we know about their specific cases.

But there has been tremendous volumes written about the hacks they were supposedly using, which are (apparently) virtually impossible to detect even on LAN. So the only way to prevent people from cheating, even on LAN, is to completely lock down the LAN environment.

What kind of hacks are these, why can't they be detected in a controlled environment like a LAN? My convincement was that the computers of these tournaments were provided by the organisation/sponsors and players just log in their account to play the games, eventually plugging in mouse&keyboard, but that would be it.

    Quote from Puddy

Fnatic are a bunch of "expletives ad infinitum". They sit on an exploit for 2 months and don't say shit so they can get a cheap win in the next major. Imagine if this was pulled out during the finals.

Seriously, gtfo you little shits. LDLC better get a rematch.

Hate this behaviours, I mean in general not being fair players.I don't understand why tournament rules don't explicitly forbid the use of these glitches, is there not a referee that can say right there "that is not allowed"?

That being said, a good team after being nailed for two rounds should change strategy (unless that area give coverage for all routes – but that'd be clearly out of bounds).

Seems unfair to make them replay the same map seeing as fnatic basically spent a full half spectating LDLC on it.

I wonder if it's possible to write an algorithm that highlights all walkable/standable areas because the problem with this spot is that you can basically get 6 foot the ground without a boost...

I remember reading that for rage id software had a tool like that, at least highlighting all the wolkable surfaces.Edit: actually they sorta have it already: the one that creates the navmesh for the bots.

Word. Should replay second half, with fnatic down 12-3.
