I tried my best, didn't get past the phone interview a few months back.

Man they are tough. The thing is, if I ever got a phone interview or on site interview with valve I'd just shake myself to death with nerves.

I did a GDC interview with Robin Walker once... I was pretty nervous but he was incredibly classy / charming / awesome the whole time. At the end he said he liked my stuff, but that it was too weird, and that I wouldn't fit anywhere like on the Half-Life 3 team or something. I guess he's right. Anyway -- if you get the chance, don't be scared, they're among the nicest people ever.

Anyone in the beta play the new de_dust? How does it play? Better now?

If I may ask, why was that "too weird"?

Played it for the first time today and it's certainly Counter-Strike as it makes me rage like nothing else can.

Whatever the bribe would be, it probably wouldn't be worth it IMHO.

    I still play both!

You can now preorder CS: GO on Steam and save 10%. It only costs 13 euros. Also, it will be released 21-08 but when you preorder you get access to the beta (14-08).

Already in the beta and it's not too bad to be honest. Just wish they'd get rid of that circular buy menu. Eugh.

Can't say no though for just over £10!

i'll buy even if I'm not a big cs player. But I started making map for cs 1.6 so I want to continue on this one The SDK is cooler than TF2 one btw.

Are you saying CSGO Beta SDK is good? Well, I can't say much because the epic amounts of memory it seems to use. After an hour or little more mapping, textures in Face-Edit start using the image of last one used and animations on characters stop (not that I wanted them in the first place anyway) and the Hammer overall starts getting bit slow and eventually it crashes. I have 6GB of DDR3 memory, so it shouldn't be a problem really.

Preordered. Playing CSS Gungame over the last couple days since I did, and experiencing the joys of totally shooting that guy in the head first, it's not fair that I'm dead and he's not qq. Just found a gungame server tonight that randomly every few minutes, for 60 seconds, forces everyone on the server to knife-only. It was good chaotic fun.

It's faster than tf2 one. But I didn't use it too much to see it crashing I guess

So not what I was expecting. Looks too much like TF2. Kinda cartoony. There's nothing wrong with TF2, but it's not something I want to see in Counterstrike. Movement feels clunky too.

My big complaint with CSGO is the shader fullscreen color changes look really bad on some maps. Like the gungame (sorry, "Arms Race") map that isn't the cool airport one, the one with the huts and shit, it looks terrible. Running from one end of the map to the other the game shifts the color tint of the screen like four times.

    Gameplay-wise, I like it.

Gave it a quick shot yesterday, I like how they didnt forget the veterans and theres a lot of options in there specifically to apeal to people that will come from both cs1.6 and cs:s.

So far... it's more of the same really, with some added stuff on top. I will reserve any further comments until I play more of it, but so far it plays really well. If anything, it's a good excuse to go back to a damn good and fun game.

The two 'house' maps in Demolition (the one on the lake, and the one with a barn) are both super fun, and the airport map for Arms Race is also really good. Dust is fucking Dust. The other Arms Race map sucks so far, and I haven't really played anything else yet
