i'm looking forward to cs:go to some extent, but surely inferno needs more than a just a new logpile?

35min interview with Chet Faliszek about the game. There are some interesting answers there, and it made me feel a bit more optimistic about the game.

Been playing it off and on for a few days now. Controls seem floaty and weapon damage seems off. Its kind of tough to judge as only Dust and Dust2 are available. Seems like Dust is the only one that comes up though. I can't figure out how to join on a friend, only quickmatch right now. Only a few weapons are available as well.
Dust:
I like the stairway out of the underpass but I was never a big fan of the Dust layout anyways. The new wooden bridge lets T's get across to the snipe perch a little too quickly imo.
Not a fan of the Army looking CT skins. Makes the game feel more like Combat Arms or War Rock.

Is it weird that I'm not excited at all for this? considering I spent half my teens playing CS?
I've not looked into the game much, but it seems like CS:S for consoles with a minor lick of paint?
-
-
It actually plays nothing like CS:S. The movement is slugish, the recoil is random as fuck.
-
Given Valve's Trackrecord, I'm confident that they will increase the quality on this significantly. I wasn't excited for DotA 2 at all when I first saw it. But they polished it so far that now it really feels like one of the best games out there and it's even still in Beta. I guess CS:Go will get some love treatment next year before it goes open beta and hopefully will be awsome then.
-
But is valve involved in the actual game at all then?
I thought it was anotha brotha?
-
Hidden Path is working on it - not sure what the politics behind this look like.
-
If you consider it a Valve-game, it's the most unimpressive one so far IMHO.
Doesn't look too interesting

lets see here what happend last time valve handed the counter strike ip to some outside studio:

not a disaster but the very definition of "meh" if you ask me...
