    Such an infinitely huge pass...

I want to see the sales figures for it though. I'm hoping BF3 at least caused a dent...

    Not even close;

"Sequel breaks sales records again with over $400 million in revenues

Estimated day one sales of Modern Warfare 3, based on Charttrack and retailer figures, stand at 6.5 million units in the US and UK alone, raising $400 million in revenues."

So more shitty rehashes in the future! YAY

Well, theoretically they could've broken even more records had BF3 not been released.

    Just sayin'

    Awesome.

I'm in the minority of people who've never owned a COD game, still I played Black Ops and MW2, and that pretty much sums up the game.

That article just makes me think that now is the perfect climate for games like Half Life 3 and Doom 4 to really reinvigorate the genre if they can ever get them out the door.

Louisville coach Charlie Strong blames loss to Pittsburgh on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 video game Blogger finds that team is 2-6 on weekends after game is released

    BY BERNIE AUGUSTINE

    NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

    Thursday, November 17 2011, 2:09 PM

    Gerry Broome/AP

It may seem like he’s grasping at straws, but Louisville coach Charlie Strong places some of the blame for his team’s loss to Pittsburgh Saturday on the players’ obsession with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

When it comes to excuses, this one is right up there with "The dog ate my homework."

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong had an interesting explanation for his team's home loss to Pittsburgh Saturday: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Following the Cardinals' 21-14 loss to the Panthers, Strong said that some of his players may have been more focused on the recently-released video game instead of the task at hand, which was beating Pittsburgh in their final home game and moving into a first place in the Big East.

But instead of being 4-1 and atop the conference, U of L is now 3-2 with games at Connecticut and South Florida up next and Strong is taking aim at the shoot 'em up game.

"That new, what do they call it, Call to Duty? Yeah, they got called to duty," Strong said inMonday.

Strong, in his second season with the Cardinals, preached about how he can't allow his players to be distracted by outside influences - including the blockbuster video game - as he tries to shape the program.

"But, these are young people and that's what we're dealing with," Strong said. "Guys who, all of a sudden there's something new and they want to try it and it just engulfs them."

Hakeem Smith, a sophomore safety, was so fired up by the release of the game that he tweeted “Call of Duty at midnight!!!! #Gamerwithpassion,” the Courier-Journal reported. Strong joked that he learned of his players’ obsession with the game by following them on Twitter.

According to Activision, the creator of the game, Call of Duty raked in $775 million in world-wide sales its first week on the shelf and Kotaku.com reports that the game set a new record for "concurrent players" Nov. 8 on Xbox Live with 3.3 million simultaneous users.

While it may sound like Strong is desperately searching for a scapegoat, he actually may be on to something. Tom Heiser, a U of L blogger for the Louisville Courier-Journal, did some digging and found that the Cardinals are 2-6 on weekends following the release of each edition of the game. So maybe the coach has a point.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, Strong hasn't played the game.

Borrowed and I gave it a shot, and as soon as I started.. BOOM; it felt very stale from the get go. However, they do know how to suck you in and do a great job of creating over the top action. The flaw is, MW4 wasn't this over the top. It had good pacing and felt smart. MW3, on the other-hand is like a kid with ADD that keeps talking and jumping around. I quickly get bored of playing, simply because it just doesn't stop yelling at me. The missions feel for the most part, to short and just to much shits going on to take anything in. All the MW games have some great ideas and gameplay moments, its just sad to see them all wasted in this game.

yes exactly, there is nothing in here even remotely close to a paced story, or even a break in the ridiculously shitty action to give you a chance to breath. why don't we have more games where an area features like 10 or 20 duces, and when you kill them that's it, why do we need a constant bullet ejaculation for a game to be "fun"? shitty designers, fucking mind numblingly distant from video games. i'd be willing to bet the kind of people who decide to ship with a corridor that spawn 50 guys haven't played a videogame since doom.

Cod4 had a semi believable story line, that is what made it a good game and the multiplayer wasn't completely unbalanced. Since then its become so absurd I just don't bother with them anymore.

COD4 had 2-3 scenes that really blew your mind mixed in with good pacing and an almost anti war themed story. MW2 onwards tired to shock you ever 20 mins and went completely team america, fuck yea.

I don't get the Team America thing in MW2 considering the US was getting its poopoo pushed in the entire game, the SAS Team was still doing all the "real" work, and it was a US General that was trying to kick off World War 3.

MW2 was definitely a little too fast paced, constantly pushing you through every level from start to finish with no time to take in the scenery, but I still maintain it is one of the best single-player campaigns of this generation. It may have been a 6 hour rollercoaster, but every minute of that 6 hours was pure awesome.

Also, was it Sledgehammer that did the MW3 SP campaign? It almost feels like an Obsidian production. I've heard the multiplayer and coop are excellent, making me believe that IW handled those portions.
