basically they built a teleporter that works with 0 information loss. we're in the goddamn future now!!

and in case that doesn't give you a boner, this probably will!

i would really like to know/understand how this stuff works ... how do they tell a photon "where" to teleport to ? does the universe have an x y z coordinate system ? i think not !

Maybe they found a way to convert the universe's coordinate system into X Y Z?

The teleportation device looks like a fucking mess imo. How do they intend to convince people inside that machine? I wouldn't enter it for less than 20 billion dollars o__O

They probably don't use a coordinate system, but rather use velocity measurements.

[Blocked Image: http://geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2009/02/2009-02-27-professor_farnsworth.jpg] Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That's what being is a scientist is all about.

I bet you the actual event is far less... "stellar" than the article makes it out to be.

obviously it's going to be a long while before people will be getting teleported, if ever. for now, we can just have quantum computing, which means instant communication, as well as some badass encryptation.

and badass decryptation, due to the obnoxious speed it possesses for brute-force type problem solving.

    Very interesting read.

And as for the "where" question, the two points have to be quantum-ly "linked" - I won't pretend to understand it, but let's just say it first requires the creation of a quantum pair(through some insane scientific hoobaleydoo), and manipulating one results in the other one changing state.

And that rail gun is insane. For us on the imperial system of measurement, 1600m/s is equivalent to a mile a second. a MILE in a SECOND.
