Wasn't Crytek bought out by EA? ![]()
Crytek looking for interns

Don't get me wrong. I love Europe and would move there in a heartbeat, but living in a country where a simple task like buying groceries becomes hard could be a bit daunting.
-
damn college. That and I dont know sandbox (not like i could learn it or anything...)

I would apply... but I don't speak German. So that would probably be an issue.
The company language is English and all the other not German people working here (from Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Russia, USA, Macedonia, Brazil ...) haven't starved to death yet either.

No....NoNoNo. No. The next game by Crytek will be published by EA but Crytek remains an independent developer.
Edit: And the safest way to get a clear answer on any questions you have is mailing Chris, since he is the one in charge of this, thanks.
-
haha thats so funny...i could just imagine the people that spoke different languages standing up in the middle of a meeting and rubbing their belly to indicate they're hungry

-
-
Crytek sounds like a decen enough place to work from I've heard, can't imagine the language being a huge stumbling block to be perfectly honest, I imagine that with all the different nationalities of people they have there they're quite used to people running into the office and asking someone to translate that scary letter you just got from the bank.
-
frie, let me be an intern at crytek so i can get a free trip to europe...i swear im not as gay in real life
-
You only need to speak English. Other languages such as German will help but are not essential. I speak English, a little french and no German as Friechamp will tell you.
-
Yep, Chris keeps successfully resisting against the German language. He's like a natural antibody in a world full of German

-
Moving to germany would be really crazy, I dont think I'd have enough courage to do it
~ (But it would be cool) -
*cough*whats an intern btw, anyways ?*cough*

What do interns do. Is it like a "Praktikant" ?
like, does he say "ok, look, this is what I can do and what I did so far. Can I come to your office and teach me tons of new stuff so I get really good at it and you give me the chance to work as a full time employee"
Or how could the work of an inter be described ?
-
An intern is a guy who works at the office, and not from home.
You are thinking about trainee I think.
-
st0lve: Incorrect. You are fired.
Fabi: An intern is somebody who makes coffee and operates the copier.
j/k
Quote"ok, look, this is what I can do and what I did so far. Can I come to your office and teach me tons of new stuff so I get really good at it and you give me the chance to work as a full time employee"
describes it pretty well. The difference between being an intern and being an apprentice/trainee (at Crytek) is that you can't get fired out of fiscal reasons as an apprentice and you go to some weird school one week a month where they teach you how to design business cards on apple machines. And you get less money.
-
Fabi: Praktikant, yep. :]
I guess it's like you get to go and see the inner workings of a games company... maybe you get to help out working on some stuff too... or they'll make you get their coffee and massage their feet while they're mapping away.
WHO KNOWS.
-
ah, ok.
always wanted to massage someones feet

but thats a pretty neat offer. I hope some talented people in here get chosen. Would be cool to hear.
*goesondreaming*
I'll practise my coffee making skills then and one day, who knows, I might be getting an intern as well \o/
but thanks for the info, finally I know that that term means. Always wondered what that was all about.
-
I am dumb, but I wasn't even hired, so I guess it doesn't matter if I am fired

-
OMG, Crytek, I wish I lived close to you
good luck to all those that apply
-
Hmm it aint that far from Sweden and i could use the money (and experiance!) altho I´ve been called to the army
kind of spoils everything. -
Can't ever read the word intern without thinking of a certain head of state and a cigar

Anyhow, looks like a great chance for those of you on mainland europe
