Arrested Development started pretty weak. I didn't like the pilot too much, but the following episodes turned out to be reeeeeally funnier! Great series ;D

I'm a huge AD fan, but S04 is really weak IMO. I have tremendous respect for the interconnected and intertwined story they manage to tell, the attention to detail and cross references is impressive, but it has so few laughs that it's more of a drama show at that point. The first couple of episodes are definitely the worst of the bunch, but even at it's best, like GOB's episode 7, then it doesn't even reach the charm and fun of the old seasons. The fact that GOB and Buster are so absent throughout significantly drags it down for me.

It just highlights how important it is to have them all in every episode instead of sectioning them off like this, it just feels like an entirely different show when they're strictly focused on a single character, with a few appearances of others in the episodes.

Anyway, pretty disappointed, hope they get the chance to make another season where they can actually get all the cast members signed properly on so they can do episodes in the old style.

    I'm picking up with

    [Blocked Image: http://images.buddytv.com/articles/Fringe-S5PosterMain.jpg]

that I left behind to enjoy in a speedrun. I wish I had the chance to watch more episodes back-to-back.

Unfortunately, after all this time, I'm failing to remember some bits of the story :/

    Anybody seen it?

In the first episodes I got the impression that they structured much alike a video-game with this "recovering the plan bits" thing... I thought: "I see what you are doing JJ, well played".

Now I've just watched ep #6 and... this is turning very much to The Matrix! [Blocked Image: http://forum.multiplayer.it/images/faccine/japu.gif]

I'd only complain that these Observers go down too easily, for all the power they are supposed to have.

And, by the way, John Noble is quite great, I couldn't stand his character very much, in the first seasons he was too much of the comic shoulder of the show, but now he's arguably the main character.

I'm really hoping/curious to see JJ working with Valve for real.

This sixth episode made me think how well "dream" sections are being made in the last years, Alan Wake DLCs and even more Batman's... the one in Arkham City literally dropped my jaw.

Yeah I was a big fan of Fringe. The way they transformed the show in the last few seasons was impressive, though I think the seasons that took place in the alternate universe and timeline were the best.

It's one of the few shows where I was totally happy with the ending, although some properly harsh shit happens in the last season (typical of Abrams). Also the main Observer villain introduced in the last season was excellent.

Overall one of my favourite ever shows, just a shame it took a couple of seasons to become totally unique and awesome. I still got hooked to the first season but you can tell they only really figured out what they truly wanted to do during the second — from that point on everything tied together nicely.

I've watched the first 4 episodes of the new season of Arrested Development and they were pretty unfunny and a bit boring - does the season get better or should I just stop watching now?

It gets better around episode 6-7, but even the best season 4 episodes aren't as good as the worst episodes of the original seasons, sadly.

You said it best [Blocked Image: http://forum.multiplayer.it/images/faccine/birra.gif]

Btw the objectives for Fringe at the beginning were quite different (after the Lost "marathon" they wanted a more episodic show - from an interview with JJ I saw).

I would say that it's really the difference between each season that makes the show intersting, strange in its sum, but it always offered something new in each stage.

Now I'm missing the last 5 episodes, and it's nice to see how they are picking up stuff from the first seasons, it's like they gave us first the "building blocks", it makes it all more solid.

I'm really curious to see how they wrap up, because at the beginning everything was Olivia-centric, I want to see if they go full circle or what.

Anyways, i'm confused (my mind is constantly going back to that "outro" between S3 an S4 with "Future Peter" and I simply don't remember how they wrapped with the alternate universe thing, maybe i should go back at least to some of those episodes since I kept them)

Haha to be honest I've forgotten a lot of things too, I've watched them all live so it's been some years now. That's good though because it means I can enjoy them all again on Blu-ray one day.

I wanted to edit in a "PS" but you got here first.

The only thing that's breaking the immersion for me, is that things seem a bit too easy for the party... I mean, the Observers survey the air conditions, but they don't notice that power is being drained and directed to an abandoned lab? They walk quite freely around, and only Doc. Bishop gets picked up by cameras? And in straight-up fights aren't they too weak? I mean, this guys can fucking blink and have augmented strength; ok that this portrayal makes them appear to fail because they are too self assured, but...

My facebook subscriptions this morning notified me that Falling Skies is about to come back, and also The Killing just did... with seasons/shows ending recently, i thought I had some time to pick up stuff I left behind long ago

I saw the first two episodes of the Killing last night, they were pretty good, I think they've freshened it up suitably and it's good that they ditched that Rosie Larson case. Falling Skies is something I watch, but I'm never sure how good it actually is. It's definitely under par compared to some of the other shows around, kinda like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad etc are in the TV Premiership but Falling Skies is in the Championship. It's enjoyable enough but the effects are a bit ropey and I question how much influence Spielberg actually has over it.

Also I need to watch Fringe, I have the last two seasons to watch I think, surprised I've managed not to spoil it for myself yet

They solved it, since it was meant from the start (as far as i know) not to go over 2 seasons; so thank god nobody had the bad idea to try reuse the same victim and expand the narrative.

Good to know the show is still good

Definitely a filler for me, in fact i skipped it at first because of the production value... then during a downtime, after a friend told me it is a good filler, I got the first couple of episodes and got hooked enough to keep on. And it's clear they are increasing the number of viewers, because production value is clearly increasing, and story can be intersting enough for sci-fi cravers.

Plus, i always had Noah While in simpathy

Yeah I think it was a bad idea for them to spread the Rosie Larson case over two seasons, they lost fans in the second season because they dragged it out, they should have just stuck to a one case per season formula. Not sure what happened as it did get cancelled, and then renewed again, but I'm glad it's back anyway

I understood they wanted to make only one case, so I wasn't surprised nor angry about splitting in two seasons and then having the show to end. And unlike comments reported on wiki i'm reading, i was also happy about the finale... since I had formed a vague idea about who would be the murderer.

Afterall, it was an actualized Twin Peaks.

I hadn't yet read anything about the original series from which it is based off; I see the Danish version does have one case per season... but technically The Killing is half a season, running at 13 ep., making it complete would have been a bit rushed (on the flip side it could have been more engaging).
