This is a topic I tend to idly think about often: Dream games, or developer match-ups with franchises or concepts. Recently on the Giant Bomb podcast Jeff Gerstmann mentioned propositioning Sega with "Make a new Night Trap game, but get Telltale to make it", and it's got me thinking about the topic again. I figure it might make for a fun discussion. ![]()
Some examples to start:
Obisdian and Crytek should collaborate on making an open world game. Crytek makes the world and engine, Obsidian populates it with characters, quests, and story. Maybe borrow the STALKER license for it, to add an extra "uber-PC" touch.
Grasshopper Manufacter should make a modern Gunstar Heroes, using lessons learned from making the No More Heroes games. They can be hit or miss (They made Fatal Frame 4 and I hated that, terrible controls) but I'm optimistic.
Criterion (Burnout devs) should make a Carmaggedon. I mean, come on. Obvious, right? The whole time I played Burnout Paradise I was looking out the corner of my eye for pedestrians and powerups.
