    Erratic

    I was on about 1943, not 1942.

yeah I know but any opportunity to talk about 1942 I'll take. And air superiority is right along the same lines as those older maps. I dug planes only midway a lot as well in 43.

There will be a console command for disabling the color grading entirely in the game included with the next PC game client update. We believe that turning it off gives no major competitive advantage/disadvantage.

IRNV scope and a few others which turn the image into greyscale or greenscale don't work properly without color grading and will look real ugly.

There will be no in-game UI for turning it on/off.

We are unlikely to handle support questions and bug reports regarding stuff that happens when color grading is disabled.

As for server settings: we are not currently planning to implement any new ones.

After discussing this further with my colleagues, we have decided to not implement this feature. This is the studio’s take on this matter, and I support this decision:"As a studio, it is extremely important for us at DICE to have a unique identity in our games, not only from a gameplay perspective, but visually as well. While we appreciate that some players might want a slightly different look to the game, we are proud of the visual identity of Battlefield 3 and do not wish to change it."

I apologize for getting anybody’s hopes up, and if you have any further questions on this subject, I will refer back to the above statement.

Unique identity? I guess "Mirrors Edge" was too colourful...

Really never seen the issue with the colour myself, I think the game looks great. Battlefield 2 was as brown as a pair of shitty pants and Battlefield 2142 as blue–grey as Rick_D's heart so I'm really not sure why so many BF fans think they've been completely hard done by. The whole point is clearly for the game to look like it's being seen through a helmet cam or some shit so the continued 'LOL SINCE WHEN DO EYES HAVE LENS FLARE AND COLOUR CORRECTION YOU TWATS' comments are redundant and in fact mildly infuriating.

I'm so glad I stopped visiting the EAUK forums, my blood was starting to raise a few degrees every minute I spent there. I'm getting pissed off even thinking about that place and its comments. I'd love Battlefield 4 to be set in World War 2 and corrected to be completely fucking black & white until the first patch, just to screw with those guys.

On a lighter note, I've not played BF3 since winter and am going to upgrade my computer soon so I can finally play it on decent settings and enjoy the new expansions. Hope everyone's not so good I get assholed into the ground the moment I log in.

I also don't have a problem with the way BF3 looks. I still think it looks great. Sure, real life never looks like that, but the eye candy is superb in BF3.

I've not played it much myself since GW2 came out, played a few rounds with my brother the other day and it's still a lot of fun. I'll probably pick it up again soon, barely touched Armoured Kill and I like the look of the maps in that.

Some levels are a bit extreme when it comes to post effects (Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula that I know of). It's a shame that they backed out on this. It's always nice to have the freedom to choose.

i can see it both ways, but i think the color correction ties the environments together and makes every map feel different from the others, which is sort of the point i guess? i don't think it looks particularly good without the correction tbh.

yeah, I think it's probably a big plus on most maps. But on others it's sort of distracting and makes the environments harder to read. or atleast I remember it that way... been a while since I played

there is no right answer on color correction, its one of the most subjective things ever. just dealing with your own art work, one little tweak here or there might be just as good, at the end of the day you are required to make a decision

this is so bizarre because they clearly planned to color correct it before hand. i think that approach is what puts a lot of people off. it's pretty but phony looking

Apart from this colour grading stuff I've not heard of anything else really.

I've not seen that colour grading comparison before but damn it makes a big difference. There's probably too much colour there which probably goes to show they wanted to used the colour correction all along, but I hate how the tropical island, Wake Island, is grey and dreary when in reality it'd be quite colourful and lush.

I wish games had more colour in them these days.
