First of all, all starting weapons are actually among the best weapons in the game (m16/ak74m, aks74u/m4a1, m27iar/rpk, svd/mk10). What you want is to unlock attachments to these weapons. You'll want a Kobra or Red dot sight to acquire targets more easily. Then you'll want a heavy barrel equipped 9 times out 10. In CQB-maps, you may want a grip as well. This goes for all weapons except sniper rifles (you can keep them pretty much vanilla).

The key to kicking ass is to 1. use your weapon effectively (fire in short bursts, learn how the weapon handles, reload at the right moments, use the right attachments etc) and 2. to traverse the battlefield in a smart way which means moving cover-to-cover, avoiding open areas, iron-sighting pre-emptively, trying to meet the enemy where they are at a disadvantage and always anticipating from where the enemy is likely to come at you.

That's a few pointers anyway. Keep in mind that you are pretty late to the party, so that's going to be a handicap. GLHF!

Really great advice Puddy. Been putting into practice right away. Expect some of the weapons you listed aren't stock weapons. I need a shitload of point to unlock these :S

Well, I think I'm remembering correctly. There's an unlock later on that allows you to use the other team's standard weapons without restriction (so that when you're US you can use AK74M and when you're RU you can use M16A3 etc). That's probably the restriction you've encountered.

Ok, so I got hooked and bought Premium. Close Quarters is a much better expansion then Back to Karkand. I absolutely fell in love with Scrap Metal. Not gameplay wise, but visually. That guy should deserve an award.

Your tips helped a lot Puddy. I've also been doing assingments and I've been playing a lot of Metro and CQ to rank up my score.

Can't say I enjoy close quarters, it's just not Battlefield to me without the open maps That said they are very pretty maps.

Waiting for Armoured Kill but I still pretty much play this daily if I can fit it in.

What I tend to do is stick to one weapon on a class until I've unlocked everything for it.

It's less Battlefield and more a fragfest but there's nothing wrong with that

Just don't play it all the time. I still prefer Conquest by far but for some quick matches CQ is ideal. I also like Gun Master a lot.

It means that I think aftermath will be some new multiplayer maps, right? In which the setting/theme will be a semi destroyed city?

Aftermath is all the existing maps in fully-destroyed form. As you play the maps rebuild themselves. Eventually you go back in time to 1942.

Oh look, not so exclusive premium content.

That being said, if you got premium check it out on battlelog instead. You can download it in pretty awesome quality (225mb)
