compared to the first vid i thought that was super lame.

    both content and tech wise.

the arm and weapon models really looks jarringly out of place while prone the bright outline between the geom and the ssao doesnt make it better.

when the building collapses it cuts away while everything is filled with particles before we could actually see what the dynamic destruction was really like.

extreme nitpick: at 1.44 and there were some lighting/shadowing glitches on the stock of the gun ... i thought we were beyond that kind of thing these days.

I think they mainly wanted to show of the character animations in this movie. Which is really nice imHo.

Good job that the sniper was a terrible shot. They were practically in plain sight at the end of the video.

Anyone else get in the Battlefield Play 4 Free beta? I haven't heard or seen anyone talking about it except for a post on RPS that it exists. I tried reading over the usage agreement to see if it's got a strict NDA or something, and while it very well might, as the best I could decipher the legalese it strictly limited me sharing the game, not talking about it.

First impression: It's a Beta. Like, super beta. Almost alpha beta.

Edit: Looked again and it looks like we are indeed forbidden from talking about it. Good thing I was vague!

Do people still play BF2? I skipped from BF42 to BC2. (god so many 2s in this series)

My computer that was only so-so at running BF1942 wasn't replaced until about a year after BF2142. Wasn't really an option.

I would say both BF2 and BF2142 were vastly superior to all others in the series. While BC2 was cool, it lacked a number of things that made those games so excellent: the way maps and concentrating action was approached, the commander, better vehicles/infantry balance, squad organisation, and prone.

While it's tragic you missed such superb games, at least you should get to experience the aforementioned awesomeness in BF3. BC2 was cool but it wasn't considered the next step forward after BF2 and BF2142, and rightly so.

The maps in BC2 are to tight to allow a lot of clever tactics, the same go's for movement and controls, too restricted to allow for some really great things, I often find myself struggling against the slowness of my character or vehicle.

Still people find clever ways to get around obstacles, like on Arica Harbor : As attacker, when you have captured 1st stage and can start moving into town, take a Humvee and rush over the hills on the right, landing behind the enemy. The out of bounds timer is not enough to kill you, but an enemy sniper who obviously camps in the back will probably spot you

Mhm. BF2142 is incredibly underrated, and I think that pretty much set the standard for the 4-class system (and it did it well).

I like what I see. It seems that the campaign will be more focused on the nitgritties of everyday combat and less about playing epic music while zooming in and out of 3D GPS-maps with lots of intel flashing by, narrated by some bitter cigar-and-whisky-general (I'm looking at you CoD / Crysis2).

The weapon handling and feel looks great. No super-aim here and you can see that holding down the trigger for too long has some adverse effects on your spread.

    Nice.

What I liked best about that video was your gun wasn't the size of a small planet taking up half of your view.

Everything so far points to the game offering the exact same fucking thing I've been doing the last few years in fps games, which is shooting terrirst as a muhreen. With no situation requiring anything more then point and clicking, now cowadoody can somewhat get away with it because it's not about the boring nitgritties of everyday combat and more about playing epic music while zooming in and out of 3D GPS-maps with lots of intel flashing by, narrated by some bitter cigar-and-whisky-general, constantly jumping all over the word, and providing crazy scenarios to keep it fresh and interesting.

While this is going to be just realistic enough not to provide any of that, yet not realistic enough to provide me with enough interesting variables because that would scare away casuals.

Hope the MP as arcady as fuck and I get to do all the fun shit I did in BF2.

Each to his own, but I feel that CoD is tame as fuckshit with it's nonsensical plot and failure to add weight to it's combat scenarios since it's too over-the-top and america-boner-inducing. The gameplay sections that aren't shooting people in the face are short, usually easy as pie and the novelty wears out real fast.

And yes, the genre's SP has devolved into three-dimensional whack'a'mole but I wasn't expecting something else.

However, I'm assuming the SP look and feel will translate into the MP and that is basically why my comment was a positive one.

I almost forgot to mention the audio. I totally agree with the comment below.
