the new zeitgeist is out !

i have been a big fan of these for a while the topics discussed profoundly resonate with me somehow.

every time i watch one of these i feel like i have to do something !

anybody who knows me personally will probably attest for my deep hatred towards anything that has to do with

religion/politics/money and somehow these movies manage to spin all this negativity into something ... hopeful.

    so yeah mandatory viewing:

the zeigeist movies must be one of the most debunked films ever, people will believe anything if you use the right words and scary music

LOL! I can't believe people fall for this Zeitgeist trash. This is what happens when old, refuted arguments are introduced to new, ignorant people who are too lazy to confirm the information they're being told.

Bunglo and Pampers: this one is definitly better then the 2007 one, less biased anyway. also pretty interesting to see what's ''out there'' as far as ideas and theories go, even if you don't agree on the subject.

Pampers and bungalo you sound exactly like the michael moore nay sayers always claiming everything he says is a lie but then when squeezed they never deliver an example or proof...

well to be fair absolute proof can never be delivered either way. with any claim ever made by any human being unless you were there and experienced the claim yourself everything has the potential to be lie (without exception)

i am gonna claim for arguments sake that:

-religious people talk shit 100% of the time

-politicians talk shit 99% of the time

-business people talk shit 90% of the time

even if half of the "theories" that Peter Joseph presents in zeitgeist are wrong it would still give him a massive legs up over the opposition !

where does the assumption come from that he has to be 0% flawed in order for anything he says to have value ! (no human is perfect)

but as a self proclaimed follower of the scientific method this guy would love to be proven wrong and revise his theorys ( like i would too! )

politician/religious-figures or businessmen ... are ... lets just say NOT known for this mindset ! that alone makes him more trust worthy by any standard.

so let me get this straight:

    - you guys dont think that oil will eventually run out ?

    - you dont think science is of more value to mankind than religion politics and the financial system ?

    - you guys would prefer to live in a world where not all of the energy is clean and renewable?

    - you want to live in a world where there are poor people ?

    - you dont want to live in a world where everybody gets equal chances ?

    - you would prefer to slave over money and kick up your money/time/health/live to the people above ? instead of having all your needs met and you can live and express yourself however you like at all times ?

even if presented facts are incorrect or numbers are taken from the wrong source in zeitgeist? how can you possibly disagree with its message and philosophy ?!

and yes peter josphe opened himself up to attack by having the last 2 movies crossover way too much with "bad reputation" conspiracy theorys and even if you agree with those theorys you just cant be seen with those people ^^

luckily he seamd to have learned his leassons with the third one !

    this is silly

All of it is zero-sum nonsense. Believing it requires a paranoid them against us mentality. There are better ways to be an activist than to be alarmist.

    Quote

    - you guys dont think that oil will eventually run out ?

If the oil runs out there is still plenty of coal and over a trillion barrels of oil that can be extracted from oil sands (through modern technology). Not to mention every other form of energy in production, water, solar, steam, etc.

    Quote

    - you dont think science is of more value to mankind than religion politics and the financial system ?

Why science vs religion/politics/financial system? Is that some kind of natural juxtaposition or is that just the bias of the author's perception that makes those things opposite each other? Religion/politics/finance today isn't the same as 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 200 years ago or 500 years ago. They're all different. To boil them down to something like morals/power/money is naive. They change with time just like everything else.

    Quote

    - you guys would prefer to live in a world where not all of the energy is clean and renewable?

    - you want to live in a world where there are poor people ?

Big "evil" companies like Monsanto have made famine virtually non-existent in the western world. There is poverty and low income people but citizens aren't dying on the street. That's a major improvement from even 100 years ago which is relatively recent history.

    Quote

    - you dont want to live in a world where everybody gets equal chances ?

The idea of equal chances is subjective. Some people need bars of gold to be happy, other people are fine with heat, shelter, clothes and food. To suggest that everybody should get equal chances is just rhetorical nonsense.

    Quote

    - you would prefer to slave over money and kick up your money/time/health/live to the people above ? instead of having all your needs met and you can live and express yourself however you like at all times ?

I'm not very fond of conspiracy theorist agitprop. If you're interested in hard facts about the world check out http://%7boption%7d and make up your own mind. There is data that suggests that the world doesn't go down the shitter and that quality of life has improved greatly for the majority of people on this planet during the last couple decades especialy in the so called third world.

I intend to just go through my whole life not worrying too much about these things because there're plenty of other people to do it for me.

i remember the first zeitgeist movie, and the most interesting thing i found in it was that you can live in america without paying income tax. i looked it up, and there were even lawyers that were able to support you to get through this. so i'm sure there's at least some bull in them, but there might also be small gems lying around. i'll have to watch it once i get some honest free time again.

sorry if i did that that wasnt my intention !

you know what they say: arguing on the internet is like winning the paralympics ! ^^dont know why i even get carried away like that ^^

i just feel very strongly about renewable energy i guess my grandpa ( who just turned 90) is partial owner of a windtower near hamburg that i will probably inhered

and i am currently lookinf into buy a small house and i am reading on what it would cost to get solar panels all over that thing and the garden and how much id need to spend to be able to get completely of the grid !

that kind of stuff is very much on my mind ! so when people completely dismiss stuff like that i get a bit riled up !

i'm still hoping that this will be a remote concept we'll look back on once we hit the technological vein of AI and manufactured robots (yadda yadda "i, robot", i don't believe in any of that sci fi bs they tell through books or movies, our only concern is the technological singularity (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity) ignore the bit about asimov)

That's if you take it literally. It could also mean creating art/being human.
