    Hi there,

though until now i mainly mapped in radiant for the cod games, i find this site very interesting to browse and see

how critical you guys discuss about artworks and techniques. I am working on my personal portfolio after i have been working for

some years doing architectual visualisation, but lately i've been more and more into modding and creating custom maps (star wars mod for call of duty4),

and my portfolio shall reflect that. I hope to get some constructive critisism, but wouldn't mind if you`d say that my stuff sucks

Anyway, here ist the link http://%7boption%7d

Its still heavy wip, as i don't have any CV yet (just quit my Job in December but have been recruited from University by my previous employer)

and i am in the process of assessing my future options of continuing arch-vis or trying to get a job in the gaming industry.

So please excuse my atm very poor about page

And yeah, i know that a star wars mod is not the most original idea, but i like star wars and it was easy to work along the original trilogy art direction.

    cheers!

Flabbergasting work! If you decide on going to the games industry instead of architectural visualization then I don't think you will have any problems finding a job!

Really nice looking maps you have there.

I would recommend putting in some space and use a larger font between projects. Right now it's really easy to miss where one set of screen shots ends and a new one begins.

Might also be a good idea to provide an overhead layout shot of your MP levels if you're interested in moving to design work.

Also, your Space Slug screen shots are too dark to see anything but the Millennium Falcon and fog. You have some beautiful assets in there, make sure people can see them.

I'm guessing that star wars mod is getting a lot of praise for its screenshots all thanks to you

    Superb work!

awesome. some of the most polished pictures on a portfolio in a long time! for a games industry job i guess some presentation of another engine but quake3/cod might be usefull (or at least a hint in your about page, that you know unreal or cryengine)

A highly skilled person with a very well made portfolio, congrats on hitting everything right

Although, just to be a nitpicky bastard, you could spend a little time on making your own website rather than using the same carbonmade template everyone already has. It would make your content shine even more (I'm not digging the grey text overlay)

What everybody else said; Excellent portfolio. Really cool with the Star Wars mod for COD4, that sounds like a pretty sweet combo with their core mechanics actually~

I have MW installed since forever but never got around to playing it. I think I'll run it for the first now, to check out that SW mod!

A bit off topic, but i just had a spontaneous interview with a postproduction house in berlin. I needed to show them some stuff i did in the past,

so i threw together this little motionreel, heavy wip, but better than going there showing them nothing meanwhile, had some email contact and interview

with the recruiter of a good gaming studio, but things are going really really slow...even applied to Crytek or Irrational Games but never got a reply, so i won't

even try to apply to Dice...

I am sure it is not the correct way to just use the fantastic song by Boards of Canada, i bought the track but not the right to use it on this reel, should i write

them an email asking them for permission or just use an open source song like the ones given in youtubes audioswap? or its this fair use?

it doesn't matter what engine or tools you use, as long as you can learn stuff then nobody cares. especially for your first job they expect to have to teach you their tools anyway.

A little update on things; I've been offered a contract for a level designer position at Treyarch, so I will stick to work with Radiant (just hope there will be no problems with the visa process...). It will be strange to leave Germany to work in California, but I think this opportunity is the best that could happen to me to get some insights and experiences, regarding I have no working backround in the game industry. Cheers and thank you again for your feedback, it encouraged me to keep trying!
