I used the challenge rooms to test out different skill combos, which I then used back in the real world. The challenge where you had to destroy x amount of waves was particularly great, because you were forced to make the best out of your skills given the memory constraints. I could then iterate on each wave and respec skills as I saw fit to make it work... and sometimes I found really good combinations and ended up sticking with them (such as crash/bounce and jaunt/dot).
What are you playing now?

playing old team fortress classic
-
Got Rayman Legends during the steam sale. Now I've never liked Rayman games, but this game is one of the best plattformers I've played in years.
-
Need for Speed Underground 2

-
Getting a bit nostalgic and replaying some random missions in Delta Force 1 and 2

-
Xenonauts, its pretty damn awesome, has some crashes and has hung once though.
-
-
nope, dwarf therapist doesn't work with it. Until that works I am not going near DF.
-
Bah, change the labor pref of each migrant dwarf when they arrive in line and you're good

-
Yeah but first 20 or so dwarfs i dont assign specific jobs. Only after that do I start giving them actual jobs.
-
Graphics still look like shit, bloody programmer art.
-
Install the mayday pack, it looks like less shit

*active proselytism*

The main issue with dwarf fortress is the menu system tbh. It is just god awful, takes real dedication to learn it properly.
-
I was only kidding! DF is one game I've always wanted to sit down and play, but I've never got round to it!
-
Well I kind of agree
, anyway let's hope for Tarn Adams a social legitimacy by entering the cultural business : Dwarf Fortress will end up in school books, a city will probably name a subway station by a subtle reference to Armok : the god of blood, and his work will fuel the polemics of the avant garde generation of artists in 2456. -
have they tried kickstarting a 3d version for more exposure maybe hire a writer from another industry like neil gaimen to flesh out some strong female characters, like a sexy brooding elf archer. Maybe a toony artstyle as a stretch goal and hire an art director from ubisoft to get that job done right

lol:
QuoteTarn Adams is a repulsive man, an individual engaged in a worthless pursuit, a human who is throwing away the best years of his life on a childish whim, and yet he is still better than you.

Quote from Sentura
lol:
QuoteAt about 1:30 a.m., a family of hippos, represented by light gray H’s, swam into the tunnels from a nearby river. Their arrival was an unintended development born entirely of the game’s internal logic. Tarn was pleased. “The hippos like the sewers!” he said. He took a celebratory swig of Dr. Pepper and rocked back and forth.
