Its mostly been creepy atmosphere and a few jump scares (including one triggered by opening a door that reset when I loaded my game up this morning, fuck you, game, that scared the shit out of me the second time too) but its really well done

Anyone else not digging on jump scares?

    If that's all they've got, then it's a problem. I don't mind jump scares if they're earned.

I've been playing Volgarr the Viking and I'm just past the first boss. I didn't read reviews or anything and just went straight into it. But, afterwards I checked The Internet and the impressions are pretty much what I expected. It's too hard, artificial difficulty, games don't need to be challenging any more, etc. Although I don't think it was overwhelmingly negative.

I listened to Total Biscuit complaining about it in a video where it takes him 5 minutes to advance further than 2 screens without jumping into an enemy. Apparently the game needs more checkpoints but I think they're well spaced - any closer and the infinite lives on the main stages are going to promote a war of attrition. It isn't Super Meat Boy. Get good.

Honestly a lot of kickstarter projects I see feel like they're on a money bandwagon. I would love to see more genuinely niche games funded by niche audiences like this. Even if you hate it you have to respect that they have their target audience in mind and everyone else be damned - they don't need your money.

    Awesome. I'm jealous.

If a job advertised "our employees regularly have Doom LAN games" it would make it way more desirable for me.

Guys, is Singularity any good? Despite the obvious appeal of the theme to me, I've never checked it out...

Worth playing. I'd say Wolf ended up being more interesting just due to the hub-ish world layout but it's solid. Stuff I didn't dig was all the periphery story stuff overloaded into the game. So many audio logs without really the level structure to let it breath. Infinite had the same problems. Found it distracting.

I loved Singularity Thought it was very underrated but it's been 3 years so I kinda forgot a lot about it.

Trying to play the newest Hitman, but holy fuck it's hard with its horrible UI and game design. Blood Money UI was bad, but this just takes the cake. Why can't I choose when to do a fake surrender instead of the game telling me to? Why is everything when it comes to people noticing or not noticing you up to arbitration rather than the actual environment? Enemies have 20/5 vision or something, because they can detect me beyond the range of natural human being. It feels so unnaturally done and plays in a similar fashion. Covering my face requires a power. My bad, I thought all I literally had to do was to take up my hand over my face to cover it OR EVEN JUST LOOK THE OTHER WAY. People are 100% suspicious, which is maybe not so unnatural - except they are only suspicious OF YOU. Shit like this gets to me, the same rules that apply to the player should apply to NPCs, otherwise it's unnatural.
