Finished Arkham City yesterday. Really good stuff, love the design of giving you plenty of tools and letting you loose to take out dudes in small but super flexible sandboxes. It did feel like it lacked some of the Metroid like backtracking awesomeness that the first excelled in, but they still to managed to get it working quite well.

I've also had Assassins Creed Revelations lying around for nearly 2 months now, finally unwrapped it and started playing it yesterday. It's pretty good so far, but it's also reminding me just how much they need to freshen things up, but that's probably because I've played every single game in the series.

Also playing Trenched/Iron Brigade, excellent game in small bursts. Really dig the action/tower defense combo, plus it feels like there's some really good replay value in it as well.

    Oh, and Skyrimfield 3

Started playing Fable 3. Bought it about a year ago before I moved here but never got the time (or a console for that matter) to play it.

Environments area a bit unappealing Same for Skyrim... pfff. Is it just cos the consoles are at the end of their lifetime that devs can´t seem to make them "lush" anymore?

Finished Uncharted 3. I don't get what happened at the end and the more I think about it the more it makes less sense. Also it was basically

    Oh well.

    What a holiday season.

    1) Finished Modern Warfare 3 (on PS3 actually) and then got to lvl 12 or something on MP.

    2) Finished Uncharted 3. I liked it, but as we've discussed already it wasn't quite as fun as Uncharted 2. Because of that, I barely cracked the MP at all and that's a shame because I played a lot in the beta and liked it.

    3) Finished Battlefield 3 (on 360). zomg I never even touched the MP.

    4) Almost done with Arkham City (on PS3). Possibly my favorite game of 2011. Taking my sweet time with it.

    5) Played a bunch more Minecraft after 1.0 came out. Haven't tried 1.1 but am looking forward to it.

    6) Got Rage sitting on my stack to play. I'm actually excited about it, maybe because it reminds me of Borderlands and I loooovvveeeddd that game.

    7) Playing some Star Wars: The Old Republic. I kinda like it, but as we distinguished in the SWTOR thread so much WoW might have permanently burned me out of MMOs. We'll see.

and have other unwrapped games on my stack including AC:Rev, FIFA 12, PES 12...

    9) And older games I never finished but want to go back to including God of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, Portal 2

    10) WTF no Skyrim? Yeah...I know. Gotta play it.

Been playing Hero Academy on iPhone against a couple of friends, it's an awesome turn based game~~excellent having a few games going through the day, do a few turns when you get the time. It's also free, though there are ads, but I pretty much paid to get another race and had the ads removed straight away.

Playing RAGE at the moment. It's good, but they should have added autosaves in the levels.

I guess its a compliment to the game, since you're actually immersed enough to not think about saving the game yourself. Until you die, and you find yourself 1 hour back.

I just started playing Rage a few days ago. Loving the layouts and art so far. I have a soft spot for things that wrap around and are tightly compact.

Ok...been playing Rage. Here's my main gripe with it on a console (yes...stop bitching I play PC games too): looting. When you loot a body (or anything) there is a very small tolerance for where you are aimed to loot. In other words, you pretty much have to look right at a body or whatever before you get the prompt allowing you to, well, loot. I find this rather annoying and it slows down the flow. Borderlands, a similar game that had lots of looting, didn't feel this way.

I should grab screens to illustrate, but I'm so lazy I can't even do that to explain how lazy I am. Yeah, this is a nitpick, but I really found it distracting. I haven't tried it on PC and I assume some/most (?) people here who did play it played it on a PC?

Like Skyrim, I played Rage on PC but with a 360 controller. Most of these games are designed with the console in mind so the PC controls just feel really bad. I don't seem to remember having that issue in Rage though, maybe the collectible items were spaced further apart. On the other hand I feel like the selection area in Skyrim is pretty broad where sometimes I want more fidelity

Yeah I may be totally in the wrong here about Rage. I have to go back and try it more but after the first real mission that's all I could think about...the looting system and how it wasn't really fun. It's not that looting is supposed to be this awesome experience, it's just when it's not tuned quite right I found it more distracting than I would have expected. Yeah, in Borderlands have to click on every damn piece of loot but it works. Also, from afar in Borderlands you can see where the loot is based on the vertical light beams (like looting in SWTOR...and other RPGs...) which is kind of cartoony but FFS it worked well. And you could just move your character over the area and click away and grab it all so quickly if you wanted to. Just doesn't feel like that in Rage. Not as fun.

I'm near the end of yet another replay of Call of Pripyat, this time with the "Misery" mod. The mod changes how combat works so, basically, everything dies far quicker (including the PC), but ammo's like Metro 2033 levels of rare. You can actually kill a boar with a pistol if you start shooting early, but if it gets close enough to gore you you ain't making it back to skadovsk. This has the side effect of making the hamster rat enemies the single most dangerous threat in the entire game. You can't really get below "one shot and you're dead" weakness, which they already had, but now they'll bite you for like 1/3 your health and they swarm in packs of about a dozen typically, and when they surround you you can't get away, and just get your feet nibbled to death in a second. It's very frightening.
