is that the scene with the electrified fence on the other side? if so:

    Quote

shoot the wooden blank that keeps the switch up on the other side of the fence

Just finished it. The Jump and Timing Parts were truely like Half-Life: Super rewarding scenarios afterwards but super horrible execution in First Person Everything around it was awesome, but I must have died 100 times in the last 20 minutes of the game. I know its not true to the Original, but in such cases I wish it had either Ledge Grab or just some general body feeling aka Mirrors Edge or Portal's target gravity (getting pulled into the Portals or jump pads)...

apart from that: great experience in towards the end, felt very true to the original and the gameplay and fights got better all the time!

It's awesome! The only thing I have some problems with is the balancing, I play on medium and the turrets/marines can really take your health/shield away in seconds. Also, I've ragequit a few times, but thats because of standard HL2 issues, like the player not attaching to a ladder followed by me falling to my death.

The levels look for the most part amazing, and I love the small touches like the small colorcorrection or whatever when you pick up a shield canister, alien goo sticking to your weapon etc.

I'll be replaying this one for sure

    Still wondering about this though:

In We've got hostiles, when you encounter the first Marine,

    Quote

you should be able to drop the container on him. The panel doesn't work for me. I had to kill him manually. Anyone else experienced this?

The two things I dislike actually (I'm at the beginning of surface tension) is :

    Quote

    - The shotgun in "Office Complex", replaced by a revolver.

    - "On A Rails" is cut A LOT

    But anyway, it's really cool

wrapping up surface tension, the environments are still beautiful, but some of them seem odd (like buildings randomly popping up in the skybox). also,

    Quote

a helicopter taking 20+ rpg hits? NOT LIKELY

. another thing i really like is how BMS has made the houndeye a proper threat now, i always felt it was lacking in the original.

Yes, they are really dangerous now, but in other way, Bullsquid are not. maybey they don't have enough life.

Sometimes it gets me nuts when I can't simply walk out a ladder. I have to spam the jump key like a lunatic because Freeman simply refuses to leave the ladder. C'mon!

New Bullsquid not dangerous, eh? Are we playing the same game? Also, On a Rail being cut that much is actually a good thing. I love HL, but I've always found that this chapter was terribly dull compared to the rest.

I finished it and must say I was amazed. I'm a bit surprised Surface Tension had a lot of removed content since, after Xen, it is my favorite chapter in the game, but I liked every second of it despite the marines being really too powerful and way too accurate. I'm a bit disappointed that the second teleport puzzle (the one with the up-down moving ring) was really simplified and got the toxic slime removed, but it's only because I always liked this particular area. Mad props to the team, because the level of awesome reached in this mod is absolutely oustanding.

Some little things annoyed me a bit and I've encountered bugs like being stuck at a changelevel in the Lambda Core coolant tunnel, the tentacle hearing you even if you're crouched and various crashes (don't changelevel or load a save with your flashlight on), but overall it was a very good experience.

wat, the ladder lock is great, that is literally one of the best changes they made. It was so frustrating falling off ladders in HL1.

Wonder if some of the cut areas will be put back in now that they've had such a fantastic response to the game. I'm guessing it must be a real motivator seeing how much people are enjoying it.
