    Actualy i've never finished HL1 & 2 either :embarrassed:

I've played HL1 but i don't remember much of it tbh. I think the reason why it never had such a big impact on me was that i played Deus Ex directly prior which spoiled me big time.

Shame on you all who didn't finish it!

And please play the entire Half-Life (2, EP1 and EP2). Don't wait for VALVe release the next part of the series

Go, play it today and you can easily finish one of the best games, before BM:S gets released. It must be interesting to play HL1 right before BM:S to see what they made.

    Fucking awesome.

It feels though as there will be a goddamn shitstorm when this releases. Fucking retards will go shit banans over everything that is not AAAA.

And working on a MOD team, as a hobby it will ruin lots of peoples day. Hopefully this will not happen, but then again... this is them internetz.

I certenly will enjoy the fuck out of it, and cheers to the whole Black Mesa team, big grats, fucking great job. And Grats on realese, hopefully you will get the credit that you guys deserve!

    Oh, you guys.

I have experienced most of HL1. After getting stuck I eventually returned with cheats and skipped to the last chapter so I could see the ending.

I also tried to replay it back when HL:S came out but I found it so god awful to look at I just couldn't get back into it. Even though HL1 is one of my all-time favourites, I just can't handle its graphics anymore. Just like my other big love, Metal Gear Solid 1.

Completed HL2 and its episodes, though.

    I haven't even finished HL2, let alone HL1.

I wanted to play HL1 but then I saw Black Mesa was in the making and I opted to wait it out.I mean, how long can it take... amiright?

    Quote from FMPONE

I didn't finish half life until my twenties, in fact, I never got past the first level. I got the game as a kid, and could never figure out you had to put the cart into the machine. Also, it was fucking terrifyingly scary

I also played Deus Ex before Half-life 1, but HL1 was a really enjoyable experience anyway due to the environments, enemies, and narrative, imo. Also the kewl guns. Deus Ex only had kewl hand grenades, but like every gun in HL1 was enjoyable. I then went on to play a ton of HL1 mods and they were also totally wicked awesome.

Confession, though: I didn't actually OWN Half-life 1 legit until Afraid of Monsters came out, which would only properly render on a legit steam edition of the game for whatever reason. I had Half-life 2 years earlier.

Yea, what da fukk guys not getting HL1 played through? I played it when I was a kid (like I ever got out of that phase anyway) and it was pretty logical and relatively easy game, even though I had some weird russian "copy", but that didn't stop me from having fun and playing the game through. It's like common knowledge to have HL1 played through if you call yourself an FPS-Player, especially for Level Designers HL1 is a must-play.

I was 9 years old at that time and playing the shit out of Spyro the dragon, I didn't have access to a computer until I was 11-12.

Guess it slipped of my radar.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I was playing Syphon Filter and all that so I probably would've understood the game 8| But yeah, no PC.

Some of us are really young ya know, new generation and all that

    So much...to...comment on. Must...resist urge to...troll...

But yeah the voice acting was disappointing in that BM:S footage but otherwise that so takes me back.

Also...I rather miss the notion of health packs and aid stations missing in most modern shooters. Regenerating shields is cool in Halo and stuff...and I can see why Call of Duty (and then most everyone else) went that way but there is something to be said for the tactics/strategy involved in managing health and armor in how you play a tight shooter like Half Life. Unrealistic? Sure...but it's a video game FFS. Ultimately it's all unrealistic.

I second that. I hate regenerating health. Halo used regeneration with shields, but when they were down, you still lost health and needed to find healthpacks. It gives you far more challenge. Regardless of how difficult you make the game, as long as you can take cover and heal, the real challenge is gone imo.

Next to that, I also hate the bloody screens before you die. I understand it, but to me it's annoying and it takes me out of the experience. As if you always get blood in your face before you die. So lame.

But then I could go on about how modern shooters treat us as complete retards and that's just going off topic too much. Can't wait to play this, been waiting for it since 2005

Well, health packs are more realistic than regenerating jam-vision.

Fuck realism, we're making games, It's all about what's fun. (And health regen isn't, imo anyway)
