Ok this is my first real attempt at a map in source, I'll most likely throw it into the HL2DM comp. as well. But I am trying to finish up this one area and I want to get all your ungodly oppinions on my POS.

Oh and I know some shadows are just f*ked up, im gonna fix them, i swear.

Only 3 screens there atm, all of the same area, just diff. angles. All crit's welcome.

    *edit*

I also want to add some more detail to the dam.. so any suggestions for that would be appreciated.

I think it looks pretty good actually, but I would consider making some way so that you can go ontop of the dam.

I think more variation in the ground texture would be nice. This looks like one giant gray box cause of it. and yes the dam looks like it was put together with legos definetly scale the tex up or something.

Looks like a pretty good start tarky. One thing that really bothers me is the sun, that looks a bit gay imo

Ok. Just been tweaking a little bit, I tried out your ideas sonic, ground is now less gray and has a lot of mud type texture to it, do i need more? Also dam texture has been increased in size, this also means i need to fix up some brushwork to adjust to new textures. It looks pretty good, but it gets a bit blurry when up too close.

Also I played with the sun a bit, looks better but still aint right

New screens are available in same link as above

for large scale stuff like that, id suggest not scaling down the textures so much. Valve didn't leave everything at .25

Dam looks good. What would add to it, if you had animated water coming from some pipes in the side that are spewing out onto the water.

    Looks really nice

Added a drain like structure underneath one of the buildings (screens 7-9). Some shadow problems and terrain problems that will be fixed. Crits? And is that enough colour variation? I'm thinking of adding fallen leaves from the trees above

    looks neat!

it would be very cool to be able to access the dam's top and if you'd add some signs of combine presence like Jynx suggested it would be very cool imo.

The whole dam has not to be combine-like but some signs like one of these patol-vehicles would be good!

I think you mean those graffiti textures - looks like about 4 overlays stacked on top of one another to me!

Very nice map and its good to see a cool theme like this being done. Terrain looks nice and the dam - though fairly simple in construction - looks pretty majestic and believable. Can't wait to see how what you do with the interiors.

Did some work on the inside of the map, also have updated the outside area a bit. Here are some screens..

There are also still some issues in there with lighting, texture orientation, particle effects that are constantly being tweaked. Any suggestions would be real good guys.
