I don't agree.

Can you elaborate?
I was mostly in disagreement with 3Dnj who considered the game to be very good (overall that is). It was an average experience at best imho. The story made everything fall to pieces...
As for the gameplay, I enjoyed playing a ordinary Joe a lot more then playing a Big Daddy. I never felt vulnerable in the same way in BioShock 2 as I did in the first (psychological difference, sure, but it impacts gameplay). I also enjoyed the weapons in the first game a lot more. I like my revolver (etc).
To me, BioShock 2 will always be the half-assed bastard child of BioShock 1.
-
Ahhh.. yes indeed. Funny difference in how I reacted to Bioshock 2. It's not that I didn't feel vulnerable. I was expecting to be able to completely own Splicers and just walk around splattering the walls with their blood, but found out that Alpha is a wimpy paper ragdoll that somehow feels more fragile than the character in the first one.

I've never heard of this game! It looks AMAZING!

You lucky, lucky bastard.*

Say hi to Ken for us!
*disclaimer: luck had little do with it, congrats!

I thought 2's game play was a lot better then the first and story was very good imo.
The thing this game did very well is the protecting sections, normally those are awful, but here it gives you the opportunity to analyse the the environment, the choke points, and it actually makes the trap powers and weapons useful, where as in other games you're just pushing forward so the normal attack options are the best. It's the only shooter that has done that in recent years.
The biggest flaw it had was that it lacked any kind of wonders since they fucking reused every asset from the first. It felt more like a map pack then an actual sequel. Still surprisingly good.

I actually hated dual wielding in 2 because in 1 switching between plasmids and weapons meant you could use your mousewheel to scroll through both, depending on what you had active, while in 2 you couldn't scroll through plasmids anymore, at least on the same controls, which was annoying and not worth the 'advantage' of being able, although never needing nor wanting to, use a plasmid at the same time as you were shooting a gun.
-
ok, I'm definitely gonna play 2 now! I just hope it's not true that you are really slow with tunnel vision all the time.
-
I played through Bioshock2 and had fun! However, I found the plasmids mostly redundant/useless, and went through it with only the fire and electrical plasmids (I only used the fire plasmid to melt ice to get more items/ammo, I guess I could have put fire to some dudes as well but I had ammo which did just that, so why bother)
Anyway, it was more of the same from BS1 and I got it supercheap, so I enjoyed it

(Also the big sisters were a bit creepy

Bio2 was too easy. I felt invincible and never once vulnerable in my huge iron suit. A stark contrast to Bio1. It was a nice game but completely pointless.

Que? I died alot, it felt like the character was much weaker than in Bioshock1. Also, the hurt-noises when you got hit were crazy annoying, as well as the water-splash sound which came when you walked under a water-source.

Being a big daddy is not for pussies!
Yeah I felt the character from the first game was way more resilient to damage, especially considering my expectations of being an indestructible titan.
-
The first game you could pretty much roll straight through to the boss with only the wrench and electric plasmid, although I did use the exploding buck in the shotgun a bit too. In the sequel it seemed like you needed to be a bit more conscience of your weapons and plasmids.
Honestly though I think both games were great, and Infinite looks just as good if not better. Does it look like more of the same? Yes, but isn't that the point of a sequel? Take the same core game play mechanics, refine them, change the story up and hopefully use some new assets and I'm happy.

Hmmm trying to find a video of a sky-hook prototype scene that I saw a while back, totally made me a believer that it's actually an awesome gameplay mechanic and not just a mindless gimmick.
Anyway, really would love to see the full demo, all the space/time hole stuff sounds awesome
