You need to have at least one console man, I'd recommend PS3 as that's the one with the most platform exclusives...
Stop the presses!!! dux likes a console game

I love both my xbox360 and my PS3 and my DS.

I wonder how many die hard PC gamer fans would change their tune if they could plug a mouse and keyboard into a console. Rumor has it the PS3 works with bluetooth ones.
-
Yes, PS3 does support mouse and keyboard. But most games don't support them. (Mainly because of pace and difficulty, imagine playing KZ2 online with a mouse, you'd own everyone)
-
Mmmmmmm, I might get a ps3, plus mouse and keyboard in a console is pro. I've never liked the 360 though for some reason. Would have to buy a bigger tv as well :[ No way am I playing anything on a 15inch lcd.

I would think games not supporting a mouse and keyboard on a PS3 would have more to do with them being designed for the dual analog sticks, pressure sensitive buttons, and six-axis portions of the PS3 controller.

Or if they started enjoying other genres? And stopped pretending they are above cart wheeling dogs into the air with a burning motorbike sword?
Every platform has plenty of games to enjoy.

I still like the PC because it's my favourite platform for RTS and FPS games (though the inevitable spread of Wiimote-esque control systems severely challenges that), but as a gaming platform it's shit. Many games are rigged with insane DRM, ports are sloppy at best, the cost-to-performance value can't even touch that of the PS3/360, and there's practically nothing in the way of compelling exclusives. When the odd game does things right (TF2, BC2) it's fantastic, but that's like saying swimming in a sea of smashed milk bottles is good because you occasionally find a drop of milk.
As a former PC zealot it pains me to say that PC gaming is shit, but I honestly think anyone who says otherwise has to be delusional.
I'm playing The Void right now on a machine I built for $210. Eh. I've been a playstation devotee most of my gaming career, but ever since I really got into PC gaming around 2005 or so (because my PS2 died and holy shit PS3 is six hundred dollars!) it's been my native platform. Games are cheaper, and customizable, I like the convenience of having my home entertainment consolidated for the most part on one doted on, self-built device. Really, the hardware itself is more the focus of the hobby for me than the games. It's like the difference between buying a car and restoring one yourself. The one you restored might not drive as well if you aren't the best mechanic in the world (
) but there's a special pleasure that's added to the experience when you're experiencing it via the product of your own hands instead of someone else's (some robot hands lol).Quote":2xaqbmto]Yes, PS3 does support mouse and keyboard. As far as I know no games support KBM outside of generic XMB functions like text entry, except for the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3. I was browsing the used games at Gamestop the other day and saw it there for $8, and was tempted purely for the novelty of playing a console game with mouse and keyboard, but decided against it in the end.

i think it's safe to say it is much more niche than it used to be. this is because the consoles (and their control systems) casualized gaming, leaving the PC as a more unstable or unsuitable platform. the only games that are thriving on the PC are those that would be impossible to play on consoles.
-
I don't know if it's so much the PC is now shit so much as it's just levled off. A lot of console games these days get okay PC ports. I've doubled dipped on a number of games (SFIV, Red Faction, Bad Company 2) and they're fine, for the most part. If you have a PC with a 360 controller plugged into it there's not a lot stopping you from enjoying what's out there. This last month I was playing loads for Blur and before that Super Street Fighter on 360. Now, I'm playing Dragon Age and the new Riddick game on PC and still splitting time between Bad Company 2 PC/360 depending on who I'm playing with.
And the 'consolization' thing, I'm really starting to believe that's an industry fallacy left over from the Invisible War release outrage. Is Fallout 3 that much less sophisticated because it's on a console? is Bioshock? What's stopping Stalker from being playable with a controller? Probably nothing.
Most of the people whose games I grew up playing on PC are still around, making PC games, just also for the console. So, really, what the fuck has changed? No turnbased isometric rpg's? Did anyone really think those were going to hang around, regardless of console popularity?
The only thing PC gamers can be justifiably outraged at these days is the lack of Sim City, and mostly just because I'm outraged at the lack of Sim City.

I wouldn't say that either, L4D is thriving on both platforms it's on.

Oh, it's this post.
Console games have got simpler with this generation too, which I guess could be some kind of inverse consolization that people haven't picked a term for yet, or a slight hint that this is nonsense. The games industry itself has decided to start aiming at a broader market, this is not because consoles came along with some new casual chip that simplifies any game that appears on them. You’ll also notice the most successful games on PC are on facebook and flash portals, unless that's the Dualshocks fault too.

i'm getting a feeling you'r either misunderstanding my post or disagreeing deliberately. i'm not saying console games are simple, i am saying they have become more casual; their mechanics are clear cut in comparison to what i know of the titles flourishing on the PC (take for instance something such as dota).
EDIT:
i think this explains what i mean nicely.

While DotA really is the modern-day chess, totally not WC3 with the RTS removed, played predominately by PhD graduates looking for intellectual stimulant, and would turn the average console gamers mind into putty - casual putty - it's hardly 'flourishing.'

statistics prove you wrong.

Ugh, PC vs console argument has fallen to the point of debating dota's popularity, kill me now.

Thread degradation is what happens when someone responds to Sentura's 'arguments.'
