Key to happiness? Is doing what you love at work. Days will fly by, and you'll be rewarded accordingly, cos since you're working on what you love and you're passionate for the results are bound to be great!
What motivates me is my short term goals AND long term goals. What makes me get up at morning are my long term goals what keeps my going are my short term ones. There's nothing more satisfying that going home at night with a nice feeling of accomplishment of a nice day of work. Fortunately, for me both those short/long term goals are in perfect coordination and both flowing along on the same tide.
For those who didn't get the message of the video and started babbling how you wouldn't even be able to fart in life without money, that is not the point of this thread nor of that video!
The point is, you don't start waving around a bill and get peoples motivation, money is NOT what drives us, it's our freedom and our satisfaction.

Agreed, money is not a need, in our economical system it's a necessary tool to fulfill many of our needs though. Maslow's theory claims that humans need to fulfill basic needs before they start to think about advanced needs. I know this theory has its flaws, but it strikes true to me, that once you have enough resources/money to sustain yourself, most of us won't continue to constantly have on our minds how to get more, but start to fulfill other needs and coming back to the original topic and video, according to scientific studies money isn't everything that drives people. And Chavvo I disagree with you, there are certain things in the world money can't buy

You're missing the point. The video is about what motives you after you get enough cash to sustain yourself and your family. You're absolutely right about money being the key motivator before you reach that point tho. But as soon as you get the feeling of security, the feeling you get when your steady income is greater than the steady outcome. THEN you start to think that your job could have been more fun.

The video DID say that money is a motivator, just not the only one. He said that employers need to offer a minimal reward to get the worries about money off the table, even for cognitive, creative tasks.
