Is this the 'People can fly' that did the original Painkiller?

Yep, exactly! It's a game that I've yet to play tbh, but seems fast paced and awesome.

Looks like a breath of fresh air. FPS games have been stagnating due to trying to mimic reality. I do hope it comes out on the PC.

the first painkiller has a very special ( and wired ) place in my heart

because if you only played it for 5 minutes it was THE BEST FUCKING GAME EVER MADE ! but if you ever played it longer than that it instantly became the worst piece of shit ever...

i tried working my way through the game in 5 minute increments and to never play more but at some point i felt i needed to make more progress to get this done at all and played it in half hour increments .... naturally i started to hate it.

so yeah not sure what to make of this one the environment art in painkiller was always mega awesome whilst the gameplay was pretty terrible ...

so not sure if i should love or loath this thing ....

I didn't like Painkiller at all, mostly because of how far you had to go through the game, mindlessly killing same enemy over and over with the same gun, before you found any other weapons. A stake gun and a melee weapon, ehhh. Vastly preferred Serious Sam for that style of game.

    That trailer looked good though!

I was surprised how much cutscene content they had in the demo (in the opening video and the end video) - pretty cool for me, since that's the stuff i've been doing last year. (the opening with the spaceship for example was my show)

so it's out. has anyone played it? is the gameplay more like killzone/halo/gears of war or is it different?

Very different from what my friends have said. It's all about chaining together creative ways to kill your targets to rack up points for unlocks. Not just a simple headshot, but kneecap them, pull them in with the energy whip, kick them into a swarm of parasites, and set them on fire to rack up points kind of thing. Supposedly it's the most fun game ever when it comes to the simple act of killing bad guys.

I am absolutely loving bulletstorm. I'm on Act 4, Ch. 1 of single player. This game never stops, and the first minute is one of the most rediculous (as in hilariously awesome) intros to a game I've ever seen. But the game so far as not stopped, just one rediculous setpiece after the other. It would be nice if there was some slowdown in pacing occassionally because after three hours I wanted to keep playing but was simply exhausted! The multiplayer is better than I expected, I've only seen the enemy waves gamemode (are there others?) Unfortunately the average player does NOT understand the team skill kill things and ruins them so it's best played in private matches. Like serenius said there is a lot of creativity! It's pretty awesome! And the teamwork is quite fluid, with friends that is, there are suprising moments were everyone instinctively falls into place taking turns slowly executing the needed sequence of moves to do something AWESOME.

Unfortunately, they put absolutely ZERO effort into the PC version. ZERO. It looks and runs beautiful but it clearly has a massive console-cock up its butt. The menus are horrible, for no reason whatsoever Game for winows live injects its bullshit into the steam version making everything overly complicated, the mouse smoothing/acceleration feels janky, the FOV is locked down, there are no dedicated servers, there is NO IN GAME CHAT (WTF is people/epic/ea not having a brain? or regular stupid? or perhaps their programmers/ui designers don't actually play games and put effort into their work but rather rely on sort of randomly hitting the keyboard until code comes out), no editor. Occassionally you hear someone's voice, tinny squeaky and quiet come out of nowhere with no indication who is talking but no one knows why.

Oh, btw, the ini files are encrypted. However there is an ini decrypter/editor: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/Bu ... itor.shtml
