You have to wonder if he's actually plugged into reality. People like this need shipping off to Antarctica or something so they can't keep distracting the courts from handling real issues.

I just don't think this kind of topics fits mapcore, this kind of stuff is not why people visit mapcore for.

Who cares what "people visit mapcore for" compared to "people post on mapcore feel like posting about this in the sub-forum in which it fits"? I mean, the biggest thread in Off-topic is about "things you bought". Do people visit mapcore to read what other people have purchased? I would think most of the forums outside the "Employment" and "Creative" sections don't really serve a purpose of attracting visitors compared to entertaining and interacting with current users.

I think legal/copyright issues regarding games and game IP are really interesting topics, ones worth discussing.

basically this. i like these kinds of topics, because mapcore isn't just all about level design and props. it's about the larger things such as the industry as a whole, and where to watch out for potential threats if you start up a new company. just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it's in the general interest of the forums.

Why the hell are you even argueing? That guy seems to be an utter retard, there's no doubt about that. People who go on to file copyright/name infringement lawsuits regularly are just as stupid and greedy as your corrupt policeman.

I think this kind of news is very important. The only way to stop idiots like this is to cause public awareness and public support, and the only way to do that is through topcs like these. This guy must be stopped, and everyone should know who he is, and why not to ever even considering speaking to him, let alone working with him.

It is because of public awareness and support that we got a fund started up against people like this. It is because of public support that the guy got removed from the IGDA leadership. It is because of public support that EA took note and stepped into the fight, along with several others of his victims. Victims who now see their opportunity to get back at him because of public opinion against him, putting him in a weakened position, ready to be tackled.

iPhone developers mock LangdellA number of iPhone developers apparently incensed by litigious Edge Games boss Tim Langdell have renamed their games to include the word "Edge".

Fez, for example, is now called Fedge. "To better represent the edgy nature and aesthetic the game, and edges of squares and cubes, Polytron is proud to announce the name change from Fez to FEDGE!" the game's website explained.

"We at Polytron Corporation are at the edge of everything, at the edge of other edges, so it only make sense to reflect this edgyness in our product's name, which is now Fedge."

"Tags: edge, edge of edge, edgy, edgy edge edge edge edge, fedge, fez."

Other games undergoing rebranding (links gathered together by Touch Arcade) include Eliss (sequel to be called Edgeliss), Closure (now "Closure: on the EDGE of reality"), Dismount (sequel "Ledge Dismount"), Edgeward McEdgington and Critter Crunch (now Critter Credge).

Tim Langdell's name rose to infamy earlier this year when word spread of his attempts to prevent French developer Mobigame from calling its game "Edge", as catalogued in our extensive feature on the subject.

Electronic Arts got involved recently, petitioning to have Langdell's series of Edge-related trademarks cancelled following attacks on its game Mirror's Edge.

However, that hasn't stopped Langdell pressing on with other actions, including one against PuzzleKings over Killer Edge Racing, which seems to have inspired cheeky devs from taking a stand this week.

Gosh, his life must suck if his only hobby involves copyright-trolling other people in RL.
