Yeah its called Stalker. Its so weird how similar the book and film are to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, bearing in mind both we're released years prior. One thing I'm not sure I liked or not about the book, was that so much was left unexplained. hm, i don't remember the giant shadow... and by zombies you mean the people that just came from the zone? by far the most interesting part of the book was the final journey into the zone... for other reasons.

How come i had never heard of this movie before, it's a-w-e-s-o-m-e (if you are planning to see it i'd recommend watching only the first half of the trailer, its filled with spoilers ):

I'm very great-full for this thread. Even though I've already seen most of them, there are a couple I've missed. This just really says "SciFi Movie Night" with my mates

Anyway, I'm shocked that nobody mentioned Alien. It was made on relative small budget of 8.4 million dollar. Wouldn't call it low, but compared to nowadays, it's cheap.

Don't forget Dune, a rather expensive and poorly received movie at the time but it has gathered somewhat of a cult following.

Last but not least, Event Horizon deserves a mention. Definitely not low budget but a gem in my opinion.

Going off topic, I must say that I find the lack of scifi horror/thriller movies from the last 15 year rather disappointing. The only thing that came close was Pandorum and I got high hopes for Prometheus. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
