Played the beta for roughly 4 hours and found it to be pretty damn amazing. Definitely glad I preordered this, brings back good memories from 2142. Seems pretty refined too. I especially like the new knife and the fact you don't get tired after sprinting for 5 seconds anymore (infinite sprint). Knife feels a lot more like a weapon that it does in cod4, and even the older BF games, though you now use it on a melee button instead of a seperate weapon. Takes some skill to get it right, but I find that to be a better quality than everyone just randomly slashing in a direction like in cod4.

The enemy spotted now works by pressing Q while looking at someone and works great. You can't see anyone on the map until someone spots them, and if a spotted enemy dies, the spotter gets an XP bonus. There are A LOT of unlock, pins and rewards. If you're any good at the battlefield style play, you'll level decently fast and get a lot of them. And nothing's actually more satisfying than checking out all the rewards you got after the round ends (and you can take your time doing it too before rejoining the game, damn you cod4). Of course the dog tags made a return. You get unlocks for a class by playing it, and it takes you linearly through the tree. But honestly, I prefer this over the old system. It seems you get stuff a bit faster, and it's working good so far. Also, some unlocks are universal for all the classes, like some rifles, and handguns. So if you've been playing a ton of engineer (like I usually do), you're not gimped when switching on to assault later.

    Anyway. Love this game.

Played it some more for over an hour. Laggy and broken as hell. It's a beta sure but that doesn't prevent it from being damn annoying to see your 30 round clip go into someone's face with no effect. Getting warped back through fences constantly or stuck on stupid little trees. The fov is just a pain in the ass and I cant focus on a damn thing its so small. The only small enjoyment I got was from playing a dirty sniper but that's weak as anything and takes about 3 shots to kill anything. If they fix this lag maybe I won't get so frustrated at it and enjoy it more. But until then it can fuck off.

????? In all the time I played I had literally zero lag issues. Maybe your settings are too high and it's in fact an FPS issue instead?

Also sniper instagibs if you'd stop firing the bullets like it's a semen sprayer and actually try to make a headshot. This is BF, it's always been like this. But yah, I imagine it's not a game for everyone.

I have yet to see much of this at all. Demo or Beta.

I've played BF2 for years so you can can that stance already. My fps are 40+ on max so it isn't that.

Now that the server browser is fixed, I took a look at the servers and was shocked. There are no European servers at all. The vast majority of them are based in Chicago with only 1 other being in Seattle. Eurgh.

I wish I had a beta key for PC or that they let the Euro PS3 users in.

There's plenty of euro servers out there, I've been playing on this german one with 40ms ping.

Damn, I can't seem to really play this at the moment. Any server I join seems to give me a weird lag thing where I'm constantly warping, so for example when in a parachute I'll constantly be jumping a little bit back through the air as I fall and all sorts of mental stuff like that.

I don't know if it's any good in Europe but there're literally hundreds of UK servers. Don't you see them? Maybe they're somehow region locked.

Once they fixed the server browser, and being able to pick servers, I have not experienced warping yet. It happens on rare occassion when the server flips out.

That just makes me rage more. Look at my server browser.

Er, you do realise you're in the 'History' tab which only shows servers you've already connected to don't you? The proper server browser is in the 'Multiplayer' menu.

My server list is like 1000 pages long. And very slow.

    lol @ Psy

I just played for 2 hours, been a while that I have played a BF game my first impressions have been mentioned by others before, but to summarize:

    - No prone????

    - The kill message (as in when you killed sb) should be a lot better visible *nods to Dux*

    - I agree with Goglebag, the weapons feel a lot more powerful and cool in CoD games. It is more satisfying to get a frag in MW2. That isn't an essential problem and Battlefield and CoD are two different pair of shoes but killing dudes is the central aspect of the game and if that isn't cool...just sayin'

+ They nailed the "battlefield" experience. Amazing sounds, particles ...

+ I'll have to play a little longer to base an opinion on the destruction system, but so far I believe it's a nice, properly done addition and adds a cool tactical element. Mowing down a complete forest to uncover the snipers? Awesome, not to mention the destruction of entire buildings...sure there is some of that in Crysis, but I don't think it has played such a big role in gameplay (pardon me if it has been the same in the first BC, I haven't played that one so this is new to me).

Aha, a little more satisfied now I've found out the Beta hits Europe via PS3 on Feb 4th.

Now which will come first, a PC Key or the PS3 beta.

So far it hasn't impressed me nearly as much as the BF2 demo did way back. Though that is in large part due to the nature of the game mode in the beta. In the BF2 demo you had much more freedom to tackle capturing a point from whichever direction. You could sneak around a lot more. Everything feels to forced and confined, especially if you're in a vehicle. Despite the destruction it lacks playfulness and doesn't really feel like a battlefield. Does anyone know what game modes it will have and how large the maps are gonna be. The small FOV and lack of prone aren't helping, for all I care they could make one team blue and the other read, so they stand out but give the prone.

But...but it said servers on the button! Honestly, I didn't even realise it said 'history' but there absolutely no way I've connected to that many servers.

As far as I'm aware the final game will have the traditional ticket capture area game mode.
