    If you go 12-3 ct side on de_nuke or de_train (which isnt unusual..) You start terrorist all pumped with momentum and if you win the pistol round, it's pretty much GG. The winner of those maps is heavily determined by whos starting ct side.

    I think the reason why nuke is played so much is because it's the only map with true vertical action since the bomb sites are on top of each other, also you can rotate between each bs really fast (down the vents) which allows teams to create more interesting tactics.

    Regarding it being ct sided, the problem is that, having that bomb sites laid out like that requires the T team to play better as a team and have greater coordination. For example, since JeanPaul mentioned it, you can easily win ramps as T, in fact I just watched a match last week (k1ck vs n!faculty) where you had a great example of that from k1ck. You can smoke and flash the ramps from the radio room without being seen, or if you have a good sniper he can pick almost any CT trying to defend ramps.

    About train, it turned into a CT sided map after teams started using the train lockout tactic, which basically means that you can lock the entire map with at least 3 snipers (using 4 or even 5 snipers in this map is also not unheard of) since it has really long routes without much cover. But not all teams have 3 good snipers, so it's still an interesting map to play.

    Wow, de_monsoon changed A LOT since the last time I had played it*.

    Mmh, frankly i was surprised how much Nuke is played in GO, with all the new players it brought, it was often voted for nextmap. And I would quit.

    I like nuke because I don't like the standard de map layout enough to play exclusively minor variations of it for like 10 years.

    This isn't a wip shot yet, but i'd like to see if i can get some good advice on this layout i've made. I'm going to block it out in hammer just as soon as i model the train and import it to use it as a size measurement for the rest of the map, specifically the tunnels. I want to be sure the train will fit around those turns. But i've also noticed that the rectangle train symbols in the drawing are a little too long, it may be separated into 5 cars instead of 4. Anyway, here's the layout and i will update soon with the blockout.

    This is actually one of few sketches that actually stands out. I think having an iconic mid through a tunnel would be hella-sweet.


    Start blocking this shit out asap. Also, urbansubway sounds like a total half-shitty custom map. Use an iconic one-word name! Subway, tunnels, I dunno... something!

    i appreciate the name idea, but it was my favorite. My other open options were "DE_Underground" or "DE_Metro" Both of which might be taken. I however know for sure that Subways and Tunnels were already taken by other maps. But it is not too late to change the name if it comes down to it.

    Names can of course always be changed last minute. One thing you can keep in mind is that the name doesn't have to be purely descriptive of the type of environment, it can be something a bit more abstract, as is the case with Mirage, like "Rush" as in rush hour or something. Just as an example. But I just have to say that urbansubway doesn't have a good ring to it.


    But yeah, focus on the map first and firstmost.

    How about "de_metrocity"? A mix of metro and atrocity. It just came to my mind, because terrorists in your map are sabotaging metro system severely in a dense urban area.


    Also, layout looks pretty cool. Make it happen in bsp!

    just from a realistic standpoint, those platforms are extremely, extremely small, and nothing you would ever see in a metro system.

    i understand the reality vs. fun thing, but might want to consider that the average modern station is at least 150m/500ft long if you haven't already.

    otherwise, i like the layout (doorswings and all ).

    First level in this thread with no gameplay? I've spent a few days and threw this together, it's a cryengine sdk version of a special effects shot I always loved from stargate!
