Q3? No way... I like the architecture! Floor color is way different than others but I think it's not an issue, it will be good for guiding player I guess.

Again not much of a level, but I consider this to be more of a concept/teaser than a model.

Yeah, it is the Q3 engine but with some new textures I created from my summer holiday. I know it is not crazy normal map popping stuff but I still like playing with simple toys ...Based on feedback I got from various forums I have re-created the lighting (it was bad), added a detail pass (dirt, dust and cobwebs, but not crazy industrial mine complex) and fixed a couple of texture issues on prefabs. A new angle to look at ...

Not a level as such, just another scene I put together today, I figured I should start doing some more personal stuff with the CryEngine editor now that I'm learning all about it at work

PaulH - What exactly are you doing at Crytek? Designer, as in Level Design? Level Art?

The job title is Designer, meaning I'm doing game and level design, they don't split the roles up like some companies, I don't do any of the art side of things really except in my own time

They don't? Because I've seen job openings at the Frankfurt studio where they did split the jobs into Level Design and Level Art. Or what do you mean?

I work in the UK studio chances are they do things a bit differently in Frankfurt

It's design and level design that I said they split though, level art is normally a separate job role in the industry

Aha, thanks for clarifying. Crytek is an awesome company and I hope to work for them in a couple of years as a level artist.

When did you get your job?

Vulture, the role your thinking of is generally called Environment Artist.

@Vulture I've only been there for 3 months, got the job last October. Good luck with trying to get an artist position

    Nope.

Sure, I've started doing 3D lately but it's not what I'm currently good at or what I want to work with. I mainly want to work with level beautification, which is what Level Artists do at Crytek Frankfurt as far as I know. I've been following HP's work and I think doing what he does would fit me perfectly. Searching for him on Google results in: "Helder Pinto | Level Artist Portfolio".

@ PaulH: Cool! And thanks, best of luck to you too. (:

I am pretty sure that's called Environment Artist 90% of the time. Level artist and Environment artist would be more or less one in the same I would think.

At Crytek they split between Environment Artists and Level Artists.
