Assuming that dux meant "shocking" in a negative way (that's how I interpret it), how is it any less abrasive than what he said? He offered no crticisism, but rather just said "hey that sucks". How is that not giving someone a hard time? Frankly, he was defending someone's work from just being pissed on - and people who just like dismissing people's work deserve to be given a hard time.

here is a little church I'm working on for Dradz....it's already changed a bit, namely I added a normal map to the stone texture. That was lacking big time.

looks unnatural to me. maybe you can give us some information what kind of church and where it is you wanted to recreate

South of france, provence type of architecture. At least the facade (not shown here) resembles that style a lot more than gothic. Dradz's map is Rouen, so that style just doesn't fit geographically, unless he was to rename the map and make it more mediterranian. If that's not the way it goes, I'll keep it for my italian map in the works...
