Recently left my work where I was mostly texturing game assets. It's been a bit of a surprise that while looking for work lately that I've hardly found any texturing only jobs in the industry. The only role that fits me that is out there seems to be that of Environment Artist in which case I'm expected to model too. So at the moment am brushing up on that area, already put some modeling work in both portfolio and blog.

It's a really nice portfolio! Also, your blog is a really good resource for anyone who wants to dig into texturing. Hopefully you wont have a problem finding a new job.

Thanks guys, looks like I'm going in the right direction. Just need to add more modeling. I'm not that good at making my own assignments though, really I could do with offering free work for people. Would have to be quite casual as I could have to up and leave at any moment, any of you guys know of any exciting mod projects that could do with a few props/environment content?

I started trying to get my head round Zbrush again today, started doing a generic male sculpt, maybe I should be doing environments instead. I just find it much more difficult finding various environment zbrush tutorials as opposed to character.

Anyway, thanks Pericolos. Yeah unfortunately on Terminator our assets were downsized and also all the colour maps we did couldn't fit into the game It often happens on most of the projects we do lol, the work ends up being comprised, even with Gears of War that happened! Many devs seem to go overboard, running things on the PC for much of the time and then when they try it on the console it's like "Oh, actually..." Seems that way to me anyway, hehe. Hope things are working out for you by the way

    Wow, really nice stuff Adam!

I have no doubt in my mind you will do just fine with modelling, just be patient and you'll learn real quick. Judging from the portfolio you already know modelling pretty well .

The only feedback I have is that it would be nice to have a more complete resumé and the "blog and work in progress" link was something i didn't find at first since i didn't expect there to be a link at the bottom right. But I guess theese things are a bit trivial..

Well with all the assets being too expensive I blame management really and not the artists =). I know this is what you were told to do at streamline!Yeah I know zbrush hardly has any env tutorials, and it seems its tools are mostly aimed to make character stuff. Environment artists have to just be creative and try to use a variety of techniques to make stuff =).

I made this small tutorial at grin, it's a pretty easy thing to get started with for making some hipoly env stuff:

this one might help you as well:

My project can always make use of some additional env models. It would be as casual as you want it to be. Things we need are meso american statues, some copper machines and such, an entire rusty UFO, simple things such as a big firebowl, etc.

We have a strong art style and doing really well in general. http://theball.toltecstudios.com

i like your work a lot! I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet but I find it very annoying that when I click on a thumbnail there is no way for me to go back to the mainpage other than clicking my browser's BACK button... or by accidently figuring out that your tiny logo serves as a back button you might wanna place a more obvious link home.
