It's not one of those silly 2D conversions though it was at least shot in 3D.

August really? That is some crap there. Back when Up was released the US date was May-something and the UK date was October-something. That's the worst one I've seen in a long time.

Just gonna find a nice shit hole theater and see it in 2d, with bad sound, a shitty fucking screen, and two young cunts making out in front of me. Just as intended.

Why not use a 2D-Glass? If you're in a Real3D Theater (the passive Polarized Glasses), just exchange the left eye with someone's right eye - You only see Right Channel, the other person only sees the left Channel. easy as that

3d is the worst bullshit gimmick ever invented, hands down. words can't describe how pissed off i get when i have to take off my 3d glasses because i'm getting headaches from watching a movie with them

I don't get any headaches or anything but I am not a fan of the "effect" at all. It makes the world of the film feel flat, because certain objects are childishly brought forward and waved in front of your face in a "cool" way. There is already a perceived depth when watching a film... I don't need the gimmick to be immersed.

It's not like any 3D films are actually even in 3D, mostly it's just the people in the foreground pop out a bit from the background. The only 3D film I've seen that was worth it was Avatar.

Oh yeah, June 1st baby yeah

Problem with 3D is that you swap sharp detail for depth. I prefer to watch it digital, getting really tired of this 3d shit. (never tried imax, but I bet that's fantastic too)

Avatar was actually pretty good in 3D, because it was thought out to be seen in 3D, whereas other movies are adapted to 3D. Anyway, this 3D trend will fade in a couple years, just like it did in the 80's.

using the 80s comparison, i'm not so sure.

80s 3d was a pretty reliable sign that a movie was total cheese, and was basically the primary selling point of the movie. 3d today is being piggybacked onto blockbusters as a secondary attribute, which, while the movies can be total cheese in and of themselves, is a bit different when you consider marketing, budgets, box-office, etc. that, and i'd imagine the tech is a bit better (less awkward) nowadays.

that being said, i've not seen a 3d movie in either decade.

i don't necessarily have an aversion to 3d...mostly to the type of movie that generally employs it (prometheus is hopefully the exception to that).

thank you though, mr. president, i'll keep your comments under advisement.

Heaven forbid a movie be actually like real life!!

    Interesting to note:

There are apparently problems with the Hobbit's filming, they're filming in 48 fps instead of the usual 24fps and combined with being filmed in 3D there's concern that it's too realistic. Film makers are always trying harder to draw the audience into the world, but the 48 frames 3D seems to be drawing people in so well that they feel like they're on set rather than in Middle Earth.

I can't decide what to focus on when watching a 3d movie, which I can in real life.
