    Quote from -Stratesiz-

The new grenade launcher looks very poor. It's like one big rectangle.

But the fact is, it should be on source because nobody wants to work with Half-life anymore because Half-life 2 is better in every possible regard - and, by the same token, very few people will want to play Half-life modifications opposed to Half-life 2 modifications - giving even less incentive for artists to join your modification even if they think it's the best thing since sliced bread, or even the best thing since the elusive bread glue that sticks sliced bread back into unsliced bread so you can slice it again with a careful precision whilst pretending all the while you're inventing the supposed "best thing," ala. sliced bread.

A fact is that source's professionally designed engine features are going to be better than hacks you've thrown together in Half-life, and this isn't me deriding your skills at all, it’s just very unlikely you will match the coders at valve working on an engine they have complete access to with a 6 year old engine you have to implement thousands of workarounds into.

A fact is that aside from the code itself discussed above, the other creations of the modification are less than perfect -they could easily be re-created even better on the Half-life 2 engine by the most novice mapper or modeller, and this mapper or modeller will have unparalleled freedom in these creations.

Once again, Tayl0r nailed down what we all are trying to say.

Yes, but at least he is less harsh than the other people...

Well, because it's only possible to read flammings here, just delete this thread.

    awwwwe..

seriously, if you can't deal with criticism, why make a mod in the first place?

This is not criticism, this is flamming because we use HL1 engine...as I said, delete the thread. If I have to do it, please tell me how.

No offence, but listen to these ppl. They really do know what they're talking about. To ignore their advice and solider on with this project would be foolish.

Biohazzard, as much as I respect that you want to help out the community by bringing another modification to it, when members of the professional gaming industry (that means that they make "real" games) and a host of amateur developers who are very likely to go into the aforementioned industry are telling you that you're doing something wrong, it's generally a good idea to actually listen to them rather than trying to defend yourself.

I can see that you want this mod to work and all that, but developing it for Half-Life 1 is like signing your own execution order. Listen to the plethora of posts above and switch to Source, before it's too late.

OK, guys, finally, we stop developing this in HL1 and go to Source.

Actually I wanted to do this in Source almost since we started but due to problems that don't concern me, we couldn't. Finally those problems have been solved so, we'll port this to HL2.

As all of you may understand, I have to defend myself from others "attacks"

I didn't want to have arguments with someone, but as I said I had to "defend myself". I'm very pacific.

I apologise for being unpleasant or harsh or whatever. However, I think that you may apologise for being excessivesly unpleasant or harsh or whatever with me...Do what you want...

Ok then, can anyone tell me how can I delete this post??????

You will be better off by developing that MOD for source, you're turning in the right way. Still the development of the MOD won't be a picnic in the park, so I wish you guys good luck.

If you want to have this thread deleted, contact one of the administrators and they might gonna lock it at least.
