Hi, I'm the leader of The Last Citizen team. Our MOD is a singleplayer experience for HL1, based in the Resident Evil plotline, but without any "direct relation" with Raccoon City, or resident evil events.

We're doing heavy engine modifications (real mirrors, cube-mapping, new physics engine, etc) and a lot of new things you've never seen in HL. We also have a totally new story BASED in RE and a lots of cool features.

We also plan to port the MOD to Source when it's finished.

You can check (If you want) our website at http://%7boption%7d

We need some help with the 2d art, and taking into account that here I've seen GREAT textures made from scratch, I wish to know If someone could help us.

You can apply for a job if you want to, at our website by clicking in "Contact Us" or by sending an e-mail at [email protected]

    Thanks for your time

    Wrong forum.

And the obvious question is why don't you make the mod on source to begin with? It saves you half the work and people might actually play it.

Make a few more threads about it, then maybe people will see it

Why mess with HL when you got HL2 ?

Frie, note that this is a HL1 mod.

i don't see the point in creating a HL1 mod at this time but yeah whatever.

    Ok,let's see.

First of all, sorry for the double post.Just delete the OTHER thread.

Second, "2. Update the content ("We also plan to port the MOD to Source when it's finished" hellooo?) "

Don't be harsh ,the problem here is that YOU HAVEN'T UNDERSTOOD WHAT I SAID. I was refering to our MOD, not the Source engine.

We plan to port this to Source when THE MOD is finished, not HL-2.

The new phisics engine was planned (and done) a few months ago, about 4 or 5 months before HL-2, so then it had more sense that now, but anyway...

And HOW? Well, I'm not the coder, so I'm not sure how he made it, but actually, he MADE it. It's a havok-like engine, so it will look cool

Anyway,If you like the idea you should tell me that instead of telling that we have to port this to Source Engine. And, has someone seen our features list (it's incomplete...)? We're going to make a lot of things never seen in HL, and you only say "USE SOURCE"...that's not going to help us.

Oh,I also want to say that our intial plan is to make this for HL1, then convert the content to Source. But If lots of people request Source Engine instead of the old one, we probably will make the change, but only if the people who requests is people who wants to play the MOD (even if it's in HL1). Now that HL-2 has been released some people thinks that HL1 is a crap compared with HL-2 when, one day before the HL-2 release, all of you were working with HL1. :-? That's what I call hypocrisy.

So, If you want to say something more than flamming our mod ONLY because we're using HL1 (without taking into account the dozens of enhancements we're doing, or even the story or the gameplay), then SHUT THE FUCK UP.

If you want, to tell something we accept POSITIVE criticism, not flamming...or at least we don't accept people being excessivesly harsh with us,just for something stupid like ,¿"HL1 or HL2"?

    Thanks :-?

PS: I thought that here we were goint to find some nice people who wanted to collaborate or at least people who gave good ideas or something, and I think I found more "stupid flammers" just like in some other communities, that attack all the things that are "foreigner"...

    Excuse my harshness

This has to be the worst promo thread for a mod ever.

I'm surprised you don't understand that its pointless to make a mod for HL1 when the sequel to the game is already out with a much more capable engine. Lets face it, HL1 is based on QUAKE 2, the engine is 6 years old and the community is moving over to Source.

Your idea of implementing physics and mirrors is nice and dandy but a bit late. Why should I play a HL1 mod that has mirrors if there's a HL2 mod that has them too, only nicer looking and with all the other advantages that come with the source engine? Same goes for the physics.

Also, you don't tell the people you are seeking to recruit for your little project to "Shut the fuck up." - People are granted their opinion here. And suggesting you to use Source isn't "excessively harsh".

You are not exactly making the most professional impression here so don't be surprised if you don't get a positive response on your request.

Apparently this was a misunderstanding on my side, I thought you meant you will port the MOD once "Source" is finished, but as it looks like you will port to Source once ithe MOD itself is finished for HL1. I apologise. Nonetheless I think it's moronic to "finish" the MOD for HL1 first and then port it, when the MOD isn't even close to completion.

    From your about page (which the default should be in english, not spanish. Since most people read english and not spanish);

I though you said you have a coder, no coder uses Spirit D:

Most people here is gonna work with HL2 from now on, and not HL. The only guys who are stuck with HL is the Nightwatch guys, and they have a very good reason. Thats why we scream "switch to Source" I think.

I think you will save a lot of time if you move this mod into source.. Probably more people will play this mod if its based on source engine. Atleast me...

HL1 is based on the quake 1 engine. It has some bits taken from quake 2.

As for your mod, there is no point whatsoever to work on HL1. Your so called improved gameplay or physics will in no way match source's capabilities. You don't have that much freedom over HL1.

Second, your posts so far indicate that you are inexperienced with modding meaning that people won't take you very seriously.

Third, the media is quite unimpressive and newbish.

    oh yeah, duh. even worse!

As for the site, or more specifically the feature list it looks like a big bag of hot air and nothing more :/ There are three team members... You guys seem to be really ambitious about your project but at the same time very naive and unrealistic.

    meh. i'll shuddup now

It's been said, but I guess reiteration is no bad thing.

Only a fool would cast aside fresh, powerful technology for the stagnating six-year-old HL1 engine, especially when content creation between the two is extremely similar.

    First of all, ¬¬

Then, I must say that we aren't noob's , actually, we've been working on HL editing for at least 3 years, so I think we have rather experience.

Next thing, the website. I know that the main page is in Spanish, when it has to be the english version, I just forgot to tell to our webmaster to change it  .

I think I already said that, but sctually, the MOD started about 6 months ago, and almost all features are already implemented, but we have to solve some bugs with some of them.

And finally, I want to apologise for the "shut the fuck up" or even for my harshness, but you should understand that we've been working very hard in our MOD, and we prefer people telling us "I don't like your idea for a MOD", than "your MOD is a shit, please don't do it".

As I said before if the people who actually think that our MOD is cool, or that the MOD has its possibilities (in HL1 or Source, it doesn't matter), you can tell me and maybe your "use Source" opinions can be taken into account. Its better to be kind that to be unpleasant, don't you think?

If people says "use Source" kindly, we can take the opinion into account, isn't it?

3 years of experience doesn't change the fact that the maps look newbish.

Brushwork looks blocky, clumsy and unimaginative, textures are old and of low quality. The overall lighting is bland and too flat.

The new grenade launcher looks very poor. It's like one big rectangle.
