I use this texture pack, it makes the game so much better: http://www.jolicraft.com/

You can even customize it, it's super neat

Yes, it's a bump, but with good reason. Isn't "full release" supposed to be Nov 18, 2011? Unless my calendar be deceived by an evil spell, is that not today? I want my full release so I can waste more time accomplishing nothing instead of playing, um, say...MW3 and accomplishing...accomplishing the, um...wait...

Tonight I released a beta of a Minecraft profile manager: Jetset Minecraft Manager

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/SureR.png]

Minecraft's launcher assumes Minecraft's install path is in your windows login's AppData folder. This application uses local environment settings to trick Minecraft.exe into thinking AppData is in some custom location, thus allowing you to have multiple separate Minecraft installs, for the purpose of mods, world backups, version differences, etc. On first launch, JSMM will automatically attempt to import your existing Minecraft install at Appdata(\Roaming if you're in Win7)\.minecraft, and you can copy/create/delete/rename profiles in the utility as well. If you create a new profile, or copy an existing one, your login data will be copied from an existing profile so Minecraft.exe auto-completes your name/pass (this is done via a file minecraft saves, I don't actually read or analyze it, just copy "lastlogin" and paste it, no security worries here). There are no limitations on profile or folder names, or install locations, and JSMM is designed to be entirely portable. You can stick the required files (JSMM, its dll, its batch, minecraft.exe, and your folder of profiles) on a flash drive and move it about and it'll work fine. If the batch file is missing it'll regenerate it (I can't do this for the .dll unfortunately )

Requirements: Minecraft, Java, .NET framework (update here if you need to: http://%7boption%7d), Windows (should work in any version of Windows that Minecraft supports but I don't have a bunch of installs laying around to test it). Let me know if there are any bugs or desired features if you give it a try. After some user feedback/tweaks/polish, and it's relatively stable, I'll be making the source public.

But what exactly does it do?

Let you have multiple, separate, portable installs of Minecraft that you access through launching them in JSMM. Mods are the big main push for Minecraft players these days for getting more out of the game, and this allows you to easily clone a vanilla Minecraft profile to mess with, or have multiple copies of Minecraft for experimenting with different incompatible mods, or have multiple copies for different Minecraft versions for mods that haven't been updated to 1.0, etc.

In my standard playing of Minecraft (back before I started spending all the time I would be playing Minecraft instead writing this manager for it a couple months ago), I had four separate copies of Minecraft- a vanilla up to date copy for Multiplayer, 1.8 copy for the latest YogBox, a 1.7 copy for Technic, and another separate copy for "adventure" maps, so they won't take up space on any of the other installs or be effected by mods.

With JSMM switching between these worlds is super simple. Without it, you'd have to go manually copying and pasting backed up folders into AppData\Roaming\.minecraft so they'd be in the 'official' install spot, so the minecraft launcher would read them. Super slow and cumbersome in comparison to just selecting a profile name from a dropdown and clicking play.

Got my first feedback, from someone who said that the app works like a charm, except makes Firefox slow to a crawl after he closes it. I guess those 2GB memory launch arguments for Minecraft I left in there might be a problem for low-end users, doh [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]

Came across more of those 3D printed Minecraft maps. Really cool, but more than anything it makes me want to see similar models of classic video game locations. Imagine having minature versions of levels from Mario, Zelda, Banjo-Kazooie, or even Black Mesa like this.

I never got a fix for my lag (feels like a constant 500ms delay, no spikes or anything) Very annoying, never got to play with friends because of it. Fighting a monster with that kind of delay is just ridiculous... Anyone experienced the same?
