that looks better than the default pack

Anyone using custom packs? I'm tempted to use one (or maybe even make one) but I'm afraid it will break with every new update.

    Painterly for me.

It works right with the ingame "custom textures" menu because it's 16x16, and looks damn nice. You can customize it to your liking as well. I like it with darker stone textures.

He's added proper support now, should be fine unless he adds tiles.

tl;dr version: "Paying my $13 did not make Notch my personal game making slave! I'm going to count every single thing he does not directly doing exactly what I want as 'vacation'! I'm a gigantic asshole who should be purged from the human race! *three minute long continuous whining noise*" These are the kind of people that probably emailed death threats to Mojang when they announced they were working on a game that wasn't Minecraft (they certainly counted that work as 'vacation', look at Feb).

ahahhaha... that's what happens when you become famous! People will idolize you, and some people will hate you, and some people will be so jealous they will try to bring you down.

I would have taken 100% vacation, and spend the money, and add some new animals when I've wasted it all.

Congratulations to him. I like that he mentions how he feels bad about not being able to keep up with demand, which is completely understandable. It's not like he set out to do Minecraft as a full-time fuckin' job — it was just a hobby project that went viral, and now he just wants to enjoy his new-found wealth. The expectations of the dickhead who made the graphic above are ridiculous.

actually he quit his job to make minecraft from what he said about it when he first launched it.

He clearly never had his heart in it, though. What he probably meant was he wanted to quit his job and live a life of luxury on his current earnings, and would spend a bit of time as necessary updating it and/or hiring others to do so so he can earn even more.

If I had money like that rolling in I'd be enjoying my time rather than spending it on work too. It's not like he owes anyone anything.

    well technically he does.

minecraft made him money while it was in an alpha stage (no idea wtf this beta is about, beta is about bug fixing and polishing features, not adding half-baked features and never fixing bugs..).

his mission statement was to constantly update minecraft (it would "possibly never stop being developed"), and that payment now was to help him add more features and polish minecraft.

now i have had a lot of fun with minecraft, i had more fun with bros in the creative mode (which is now gone, gg), and i only ever bought it to have my own custom skin (15 bucks for a custom skin lol, pretty good business sense though, i bet a fuck load of people bought it for that reason alone), so whilst i have gotten my moneys worth i think it's kinda bad to say that he owes nobody anything or that he has finished the game.

also, the modding community have added more content than a bunch of guys with their own offices and 33 million bucks, so yeah, not sure what is happening there. what would be nice is if he implemented some of the good mods so that we could all play together with the best features, but he simply adds bugs that break decent mods.

i would love to hear mojang's opinions on the whole development of minecraft, i am sure it would be either very interesting or very frustrating to read.

You could say the same about Valve, Epic, id etc

but at the same time without valve's input counter strike, tf tf2 etc would be nowhere near as good, in fact they would most likey be dead.

minecraft mods actually make the game better
