Minecraft dev to found own studio after $3.8m success.

I'd also like to be unprofessional and share my favourite post from TIGSource.

I decided to look up some gameplay videos of this game... I'll admit, it does look really fun and well designed; I'm tempted to play it. Still, I'm shocked that rakes in $250K per day and I refuse to be a part of that, so I'm not going to buy it.

    I laughed at this:

Wait, do you WANT all those twelve year-olds (No, they're not ALL twelve year-olds, but many are rather immature) to come over here? No. Nuh-uh. Never. If only we could filter the nice, intelligent people out of their community and into ours...

I swear, there are people like this in every community. I wonder if there are Youtube commenters out there who look down on the rest of the participating internet with smug disdain, of the opinion that they are far inferior to the great intellectual debates of their own.

I mean, to be clear, the minecraft forums are a hole. But that's no excuse to go throwing stones when you're posting on a glass website :3

Yeah, I really like TIGsource and read the devlogs all the time. But some of the reactions are weird.

But here at mapcore we have EOT. :derp:

Bought it yesterday, and made a workbench, and some weird axe picky thing. Thought i found coal and dug myself into a dark cave, trying to make a torch. After googling i found out i had fount flint! How will i know if its safe to go out and find coal?

Wander around outside looking for caves and cliff faces. It's pretty easy to find coal out in the open in rock. Also note caves, during the day they're lit up enough for you to explore a bit into them for resources as well. If you find iron but no coal you can always smelt it with wood in the furnace and combine it with flint, and go around starting fires for light

Where does it say that exactly?

He's talked about that before, but as far as actually on the Halloween page I'm optimistically reading into "Scary new depths" pretty much. With biomes he's already making massive changes to world gen so increasing map height doesn't seem like a stretch.
