The boat floats on water and is directed by the water flow. If you build a two-way water flow, like this, you can make that system:

":17zkqslt]lol, and you didn't had the slight curiosity to check out on the internet what the game was really about before giving up?

Thought about it but I just didn't feel like getting into the game to be honest.

It's an alpha release by one guy. It's really popular right now and has lots of hype but that's not meant to imply it's some polished game. In fact it's amazing that despite its lack of polish people have actively figured out how to play minecraft instead of feeling entitled after years of being spoonfed bowls of linear garbage.

You got all that from my one comment? Interesting.

But enough tech-love about hosting..I’m exhausted! I’d really like to do a Seecret Friday update, both to keep you guys happy and to actually get to do some programming myself, but I need to wind down.

And.. Civilization 5 just got unlocked on Steam.

I’ll see you on the other side!

I'm having such a fucking blast with this.

And you know, the fact that the game just spawns you in a world and tell you "fuck off, now just survive" and you need to figure out things on your own makes it even more awesome, it's like it's part of the game to go online and see how you do various crafting recipes, what the different blocks mean, etc.

Should go without saying, but the wiki is awesome with all the info you need:

My tower is done. You can tell my game went gold and I got time to spare

So I dig a massive pit semi into the sea (and the sea was really deep there so it was great fun), drained the water out of it, and then went all the way to the very bottom of the world. I am 3 rows of blocks away from litterally falling out of the world. The top of the tower reaches the maximum allowed heigth. I still got over 4000 blocks of stone left now that I don't know what to spend on. I will probably build a big extension on one side and then a massive underground bunker or something.

I got lava spawning at the roof, and it falls all the way down to the bottom of the tower illuminating everything at night.

    This is madness!

    NO

    THIS IS MINECRAFT!!!!

Nice tower/pit there man, using the lava to illuminate it inside is a stroke of genius, well done!

It look particularly cool with the melted ice around the lava, wicked!

The game's only got 128 squares of horizontal space to work in, 64 above and 64 below sea level. Notch said he'd like to expand that later, but right now super big stuff can only exist in shrunken form.
