Left4Dead 2

Well it's in Nawlins so we know the Army won't show up until at least halfway through the campaign.
-
it looks fun but im not digging the daylight too much

Whole bunch of L4D2 videos released all at once, including gameplay footage. The uzi has barbwire wrapped around the barrel

I'm actually gonna give L4D2 the benefit of the doubt. It DOES sound like it's coming way soon compared to Valve's normal behaviors, but what they've got looks good. I dig the New Orleans setting, I dig the visuals, and I really, really dig the extensive upgrade to their gore system.
-
It's an Ingram, not an Uzi. And it looked like zip ties holding the light, not barbed wire, which would be kind of cool.
I want to get a better glimpse of those new pistols though.

To me this is one of the few, rare cases of "more of the same" being good enough to me! 60 $ might be too much in this case, so I hope they will launch it with a lower price tag, but on the other hand I love L4D and can't wait to play the new campaigns

-
IMO L4D lacked enough content in terms of weapons, environments and replability to warrant the full price tag, yes it's fun on lan but TF2 is much better value in all areas.
Sounds to me like they are working hard on HL3 (and ep3?) and are putting out another game to keep the fans happy. Even if it doesnt make sense. That being said L4D could be pretty cheap to make in terms of development costs so from a business standpoint it could be profitable even if it doesnt sell that well.
-
I kinda expect them to package L4D 1/2 together for retail at full price, and then have L4D2 alone at $30/40 on Steam. After L4D2 comes out the first game won't have much value at all so it makes sense they'd include it in the L4D2 release for the sake of completion.
-
Was hoping this wasnt true.
This looks like L4D meets Killing Floor. Seems like Valve got inspired by it

It feels rather incomplete to me btw, not sure about the daytime setting as well.
It would be ok with me if the game was for like 10$ for L4D owners.
-
Gives me a cash cow feel as well. I love L4D tho so I may get this but not for 50 euro or so....

I'm kind of curious about the new AI Director tough:
QuoteIntroducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D’s dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players’ performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.
I also loved the amount of gore in the trailer, it seems like there's a new ragdoll system implemented, and you can cut limbs from the infected and they will still keep going

If you haven't read it yet, here is the RPS exclusive preview:
Ho and i read some rumors that there might be something else from Valve at E3, if they are also announcing ep3 maybe we will get a new orange box kind of deal (ep3 + L4D2 + something else (CS 2 maybe?))
-
RPS also has a podcast interviewing Chet Faliszek, the project lead for L4D2, and it goes into why they decided to make a full sequel so soon.
-
-
This better be good since it's not Valve's style to release a sequel this early. If it happens to be just a silly rip off, eg. even less content than the first one, then you can count me out.
-
Wait. Does 'Dynamic Weather' mean there will be a new feature in the engine that allows for dynamic global lighting?
-
Not interested in the first one, wont be interested in this either.
-
-
I reckon it just means the director will have an I/O hookup with a func_precipitation, a toggleable "clouds" prop_dynamic in the skybox, maybe a trigger_wind too, and will change the HDR / color correction. Boom, "dynamic weather."
