Wouldn't surprise me. We might be witnessing the beginning of the fall of Steam now with F2P games and micro-transactions

    lolwut

Steam made almost $1 billion last year. I think it might be a bit early for the canary test at this point.

Well the day Zynga starts porting their crap to Steam will be the day I lose all respect for Valve. I really hope that never happens.

Huh? Where did you get that idea from?

Huh? Why wouldn't they? It's a huge platform with millions of clients, why wouldn't they want to bring their shit to steam? It wouldn't hurt their facebook crap one bit.

..because it's browser based and zynga does not need an unnecessary expense (such as steam) when they can get users directly from any browser.

Who in this industry has more money to burn than Zynga? Don't forget that Steam already has an integrated web browser... Anyway, I really hope I'm just being paranoid and nothing of this ever happens.

it would be an investment that wouldn't pay off for them. so, no, it's not going to happen.

Do you work as an analyst for Zynga? Because otherwise you are not changing my opinion.

As long as I can still update and work with the SDK, I'll be happy.

And Zynga wouldn't need to pay anything to use that integrated browser, any more than any other website needs to "pay" valve to use that browser. The only they'd theoretically gain from a Steam deal would be the advertisement of being on the steam store front page, which would have questionable value (how much of Farmville's potential market is really playing full PC games on Steam and doesn't yet use facebook?), and would make the anti-casual crowd rage and hoot and holler.

What's SSR stand for? Can't find out through google. I see in the screenshot it has something to do with reflections.

Also that's definitely the most significant improvement from AO I've ever seen in a game. One of the only times I've ever actually seen it matter, actually. I had performance issues in RFA for the first two levels, looked in the option, and found I had AO turned on. I turned it off and instantly 60FPS with absolutely zero visible visual difference.

I guess it means Screen Space Reflections.

Seriously guys, you dont think steam is laggy? When launching it, it takes forever. Sometimes I can see the outline maybe 10 seconds before anything pops up, and when something pops up its all black and I gotta wait another 10 seconds before the content of the page appears. I cant think of even one other program I have that lags as much... maybe skype... Oh and dont get me started on the whole browser thing inside steam. jeez what a terrible idea.

you mean being able to check the internet inside a game without having to tab out? yeha i ttoally hate that convenience. fuck valve, those faggot cunts.

Admittedly I've not used Steam much this year but it never struck me as a laggy piece of software before, and I personally find all the in-game tab stuff extremely convenient when I've administrated servers and needed to refer to the web to check commands, add bans to databases, etc. Obviously it'd be optimal to just be able to tab through Windows but as we all know that's asking for trouble in too many games.

I just finished Crysis 1 again. I love that game!*

Hopefully this will be released just after I'm done with Warhead so I can continue my Crysis-marathon with improved graphics (got new rig now too!)

*except for zero-G levels, final level/boss and at times whimsy story
