Considering the shit demo you put out, the pirate version is the only thing that could possibly change peoples minds.

If 1 download actually equated to 1 lost sale:

    http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_i ... tory=17350

Kind of annoying that everyone ignores console pirating though, there's always one douche who has to use PC pirating (and only PC pirating) as an excuse for the short comings of developers. It especially gets my blood boiling when said douchers are "columnists" who don't know jack diddly.

    Example:

Some people are attempting to justify PC piracy by saying it happens on consoles too. Yes, of course it does. But "Look over here, they're doing it too" isn't a fucking justification.

Someone else is doing it therefore I can too is the weakest argument in existence.

I'm a little confused as to what point your post has? The context of my comment had nothing to do with justification of anything, it just annoys me when people blame PC pirating and not consoles as well :\

    1 download =! 1 sale

A small percentage of those could be people making sure that their machine can run it etc.

If you are going to beat yourself up by tracking the amounts of downloads your games have on TPB, you'll go insane.

Piracy is a reality, there isn't much you can do about it directly and one has to simply always look of ways to work with this fact.

The fact that you clearly didn't read the article which address your point. I suggest in future you read the entirety of an article before attempting to slate it.

the demo contains enough to let people know:

if their machines can run it

if the graphics are up to their impeccable standards

    next argument please.

also, sales. sure 1 download doesn't equal 1 sale, but then don't download the game.. if you don't want to buy it, don't download it.

do you REALLY believe, in your hearts, that someone will pirate the game and then buy it afterwards? come on guys, grow up.

i am really amazed by the outrage and hatred being spat out about Crysis 2. it's not a bad game, it lasts longer than most of the current singleplayer games out there, it looks stunning (and with patches it will only get more impressive), is it just a case of self-entitlement, or genuine hatred of video games?

On the topic of bashing. Well, I call it... the internets. Everyone's a douche behind the keyboard.

This gaming community is made of mostly kids, and they are everywhere and they are loud. I can't read YouTube comments anymore, or GameTrailers, or any blog. People just insult themselves, troll, and simply bash on someone just because that someone has a different opinion. There's no such thing as respect or dialog. And this so called "fanboyism", I can't take it anymore, I'll just concentrate on making good and beautiful games, and stay away from that kind of environment. (I just hope to god MapCore doesn't turn for the worst too)

rick_D: I may or may not have done that (downloaded first and then purchased) when I was younger. Definitely not anymore and not with Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 is a good game. But it has two main weak points:

    - Story is WTF, poorly executed

    - MP is, right now, weak, a bit buggy/laggy and unbalanced as fuck

It looks great and plays great in SP. But alot of the cinematic "weight" is lost in SP because the story is so unfocused and poor.

And the component which greatly attracts legal buyers, multiplayer, because they can't play with pirated versions, isn't as strong as it could be.
