I hope they hurry up on that multiplayer demo to give curious people a legit alternative.

Well I bet because of few hackers next Crytek game won't be available on computer.

People in the comments of posts about this across the internet keep saying stuff like this, and it's annoying. This wasn't the result of the piracy scene or PC gamers in general, but specifically whoever leaked it/stole it, and from what I've heard, with stuff like the leak won't run on higher settings at all, that it won't serve as a proper stand-in for the real game. Making such drastic predictions is getting ahead of ourselves big time.

I'm not talking neither the piracy scene nor the gamer. Moreover I was kidding.

Who know the person responsible of that leak...

By the way: http://www.gamershell.com/news_11503.html (Not kidding)

Dude, the news is from 2004.

On the topic. We invested alot of our own time, sweat and blood to the project. Give us some credit and wait for the finished product in March. I'm not happy how this got spread last night. By the time we found out about it only a couple of posts were made, this morning every news-site had it upfront "Not that we would say but you know you can grab a free copy of C2 on your favorite torrent". Thanks to all the great news-sites for that. My personal favorite is german "PC Games" magazine which we invited to come and see the product first hand even with some readers joining and now they keep posting "see these cool videos on youtube".

Crytek has been alerted that an early, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and playing the final, polished game on March 22.Crysis 2 is still in development, and the team is hard at work on it and Crysis 2 promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion.

Piracy continues to damage the PC development community.

I watched a video on youtube and I was actually really impressed, even though it was being played with a controller It definitely looks better than Crysis 1, with the way the skyscrapers shine and reflect the city, and the special effects and stuff. Especially if you compare it to other games set in NYC (to this day, over a decade later, when I think "games in new york" my mind goes first to Parasite Eve btw) it's like a whole new hardware generation. Given that those other games are console games, then it pretty much is. The gameplay looked better, too. The way the enemies acted and reacted to the player made it feel like the player was a superman even more than Crysis. In Crysis it felt like you were attacking dudes waiting around for the most part, just chillin in the jungle (I haven't gotten to the part with the aliens yet, personally ). In Crysis 2, at least in that nine minute video I watched, it was like the enemies are waging an all-out war on you, and losing. That was cool.

I also liked that when he switched weapons the weapon stats would show onscreen, with categories highlighted in green or red to compare with the last gun. I didn't see though if you can still trick out your guns with scopes and laser sights and shit you loot as you progress. I hope that's still in, that was like the single coolest gameplay feature in Crysis 1 imo.

I'm honestly not going to buy this on release because EA's been putting PC games at $60 recently, which is about double what I pay for any game these days because I am poor and/or cheap I will definitely buy it during the first big steam sale though, promise! I did the same thing for Crysis 1.

Coz console games get leaked too way before release too! Even if those leaked video around the web show that Crysis 2 is very well done (talking about graphic the gameplay part seems to be lame as a CoD game), I feel like tek is already trying to justify its fail on PC by blaming the customers. I don't support piracy but that kind of sentence make me laughing!

yes we put it on the interwebs on purpose so we can bail out of all deals with EA, can justify that it only runs with xbox 360 controllers and in general post all the porn that comes with the build. [/sarcasm]

It's not like we are in the middle of making some great steps for a very good PC Version and trying to ship a game in order to be able to pay our bills as well... The above mentioned statement says nothing more than "Hey, PC Leak hurts us, financial and reputationally, because this is not what we intend to present."

Yeah! Pc gamers came at tek and have thefted a beta DVD they never used to put themself in question! [/sarcasm]

Do I deserve a blame for tek unable to secure its own game!? This wouldn't have happened if the Pc demo were out right now! This is the worst business report ever!

[EDIT]: "At this time, Crytek & EA are glad to confirm that we'll be releasing a pre-launch Crysis 2 multiplayer demo on PC! Stay tuned for details." Twitter

I would think that the leak would hurt more in that it could possibly make the game look bad, missing bug testing/polish/options than that people are pirating it and being satisfied with the leak for their fill of Crysis. It's why I'm still waiting impatiently for that demo.

    also:

EA endorsing the leak. SHOCKING! I actually clicked the link to see what they had to say, and I see that's where the whole "hurting the PC" line came from. I agree with the commenters on the post (though as you go down they quickly become as coarse as seldoon ), that's not really an appropriate pointing of fingers. That pirates are downloading it is inconsequential to that it was leaked in the first place.

Edit: Looked at TPB and there's less than 5000 people with the leak. That's not really a make or break number for overall expected performance, considering the first game sold millions just on PC.

Well it is kinda a bummer. It makes Crytek look bad that it was leaked in the first place, and spoilers are gonna get out there, and there's all this drama now when people talk about the game, instead of actually talking about the game. Definitely not a good thing. I would imagine they'd rather people associate "awesome kill stuff explosions new york aliens fuck yeah" with crysis 2 instead of "Oh man game leak piracy PC is dead blah blah blah"

Well its probably because they put alot of time and effort into making it... And then having this happens after all the time spent is like getting punched in the face from behind, and never knowing who did it.

Seldoon, I understand what you're trying to say but you're still coming out sounding like an asshole for not taking into account the Crytek employees blood sweat and tears that have gone into making this game. Some of us here have been working on this game for 3 years, working enough long hours that a random joe would work in 5 years. This betrayal is NOT from the gamers, but it is part of the community, because the community encompasses all gamers, game devs and publishers. Community = industry. We're all part of a single ecosystem and that's where the betrayal stings.

While the original betrayal is not that of the gamers, any gamer that will now download the leak just seeds along the exact same feeling. That's what the statement should be read as.

We, at Crytek, should ask ourselves how best to counter these things and not punish the most important link in our chain (the end consumer), and ultimately finding an answer to that will be what takes the sting away.

Seldoon, you should stop reading Nofrag.

Anyway, we can heard the first preview and a lot of people find the game beautifull and better optimized than the first. Can't wait to play this
