Not much to say really, just head on over to http://www.thief4.com/ for the news

Eidos-Montréal is excited to unveil, our previously secret second title in development at the studio, as Thief 4, the next instalment in the legendary series!

    Monday, May 11, 2009 - Montreal

"Were in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious project and a very exciting one. It's too early for us to offer any specific game details, right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make, what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market."

    Stephane D'Astous - General Manager

It's good, and it brings Garrett's story to a pretty good conclusion.

In particular, the levels where you're at the seaside mansion of a dead ship captain, and the famous Shalebridge Cradle are really great levels and need to be experienced.

Also Thi4f is a retarded logo concept. Come the fuck on.

If that's their logo for it I can tell where this is going already.

Thief 1's level design sucked compared to Thief 2's, and wasn't nearly as atmospheric, and Thief 3 has the captain's mansion, Shalebridge Cradle, and being able to wander around and engage in my persona favorite gaming past-time of playing with broken AI to its advantage. Thief 2 > Thief 3 > Thief 1.

I am an absolutely COLOSSAL fan of Thief 1 and 2. Thief 3 had its moments but I just never connected quite as well with it as with 1 and especially 2.

Anyway, huge responsibility to take on this franchise in my opinion, I heard some rumors a looong time ago about IO maybe picking it up at one point, which thrilled and scared the living shit outta me at the same time. But this is something that I'd much rather play than make, so good show! Hopefully you Montreal lads can pimp this thing up

Oh and the 4th in the title better be a teaser kinda thing because its totally not working if you'd want people new to the series to understand it

They should just go for a subtitle or something. Numbered sequels are totally lame, everyone knows that. Especially when you get to numbers beyond "2".

I read Thiaf from the logo. What's Thiaf?

Seriously, I haven't honestly played any of the Thief games, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

ps you better make stealth work, or Yatzee is gonna slaughter you.

Haha yeah, I hated it when I first played Thief, since I was 14 years old and too scared to play it when it was dark outside. Also the haunted cathedral mission was fucking creepy

Later I've come to like it, but I still prefer the non-undead missions

Thief 1 + 2 are in my top 10 of best games ever.

Thief 3 still was ok but nowhere near as good as 1 and 2 because it didnt added a lot of new stuff to the series and the tiny levels were a step back actualy. The open worldness was a good idea in theory but did nothing for me. Infact the loading between the small sections did go on my nerves.
