Been playing it for a couple of hours now. Its pretty good, but I gotta admit, kinda pales in comparison when you've just finished Uncharted 2, even if you can't really compare the two. Also even though I really like Jack Black, then I'm slowly getting some heavy duty JB fatigue from this game. Maybe its not really him, but rather the fact that Eddie's character just takes himself a bit too serious most of the time, he's a bit too bluntly written. Also the RTS parts are WAAAAY confusing, so far its almost by random that I've actually made it through em.

That said, there's still a lot of love in this one, lots of funny references, and an absolutely amazing soundtrack. I'm just finding it hard to pull myself together and play this instead of Uncharted 2 MP D:

While I'm only 2/3 (?) the way through Uncharted 2 SP, the above pretty much captures my feelings about Brutal Legend.

I've been disappointed with this one. I am as fond as ever of the worlds and stories Schafer creates, but the gameplay lacks a lot to be on par. The RTS elements are as incomprehensible as they're boring, to the point where I don't want to try again to go past where I got stuck on my 4th attempt. I was almost at the end too. Brutal Legend overall lacks depth in every single department except the story, and even that has to be explored to be enjoyed.

There is absolutely no need for the open world to be there as it's largely underused with absolutely mundane and boring side missions that bring nothing to the player. The upgrades tree and economic systems are laughable at best as you unlock everything in a matter of a couple hours of doing those side missions and roaming the world (which happens to be the most enjoyable thing so far).

I can seriously say that I don't see why this game would take 4 years to make (assuming they started right after Psychonauts). Take the theme and story apart (Schafer's work) and look only at the gameplay and there is a game that can be shipped in a year by a team of 50 people.

Huh, don't get the problem with the RTS stuff, found it very simple?

The only times I turned it off were escort missions, please stop making me escort stuff, games!

Enjoyed it, it's got nothing on Full Throttle, but it was fun

I usually get my stuff from http://www.estarland.com btw (the layout is horrible but i've ordered several games and never had any problems).

i was on youtube a moment ago and recommended video for me was the old school brütal legends debut trailer ! and i was like " fuck yeah lets have it"

and than ... silence ... so i said to myself clearly the person that uploaded the trailer here is retarded and ill just fire up one of the other 20 videos that are this exact same video but this time with audio please ! and than i came across a version that had evanescence playing over it and some other stuff and some more crap ... and than i saw that youtube automatically removed the audio tracks because of some license issue with the music

Check out the first video on my YouTube channel warby:

    http://www.youtube.com/brutallegendmedia

As far as I'm aware I'm the only one who's ever actually hosted the original HD trailer because it was never released publicly, and I had Vivendi/EA authorisation so the sound is proper.

first of all that is great thrik !

care to explain exactly what you needed to do to get the music track authorized ?

Well I had the HD videos provided to me directly by the publishers' PR dudes because of my fan site (got one of those big ass statues to give away too ). Although a few got temporarily flagged by YouTube, all I had to do was dispute the copyright claim and it was resolved within a few days. Although things are flagged automatically — it can automatically detect licensed music and video — they are dealt with manually.
