There's so much originality in this film it's amazing. I haven't sat on the edge of my seat in a movie with chills running down my back and legitimate care and concern for the characters (especially an animated one at that) since... well, frankly I don't remember a film that has immersed me as well as this movie has. Film of the year, no doubt. This bitch is going to sweep the floor come award season.

I hope it's not too heavy on the political/social commentary. That shit will ruin it for me real fast. Just like the disaster that is 2004's crash.
-
You lose awareness of that theme real quickly. It's slightly prevalent in the beginning, and it's more or less alluding to the Apartheid from what I gathered, but it's very, very far from the preachy bullshit that was Crash.
-
Reminds me of Alien Nation with aliens and humans on Earth, sounds like it's one to see so I'll probably go see it when I get a chance

-
Oh, and without spoiling too much, let's just say there were a few scenes that certainly paid homage to Half-Life 2 (think technology), and that was quite the nerdgasm for me.

That's the one where the racist cop rescues the black girl from the car crash right? I didn't think that was such a bad film, nothing special but there's far worse films that have been made *cough* Ghosts Of Mars *cough*
-
Even bad John Carpenter movies are still fun.

So Dark, Klein, some other friends outside Mapcore and I went to see it yesterday evening and we were all blown away by it. I'm with Squirelly, no other movie has hit such a homerun with me in recent memory. I loved Dark Knight and Wally last year, this is beyond them on every level of excellence and I have to go back to The Lord of the Rings to experience a movie that draws me in like this. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time.
-
Big words! I wasn't that excited by the last trailer, but this is certainly increasing my expectations.
-
dark, klein, you agree as well?
-
woa, I was a bit reticent on whether I should pass on this one or not... Guess not after Furyo's words.
-
Can't wait until 16th September! Fortunately gona watch inglorious Basterds this week!

-
I'll probably just wait for blu ray. I know it won't be half the experience but I'm so damn lazy.
And d3, crash isn't a bad movie in that sense. There are a lot of bad movies with redeeming factors (artistic, hiliarious, make good drinking games, etc). The problem with crash is that it's just so lazy. The only way I could give you a better description is by watching it again but I don't think I could sit through it again without some kind of reward for after.
If I go see a movie with a few ideological doppelgangers and we all walk out with completely different interpretations of what just happened, that's a good movie

This movie floored me. It was intelligent and had very very little corny bits... Some great acting done by the main guy and some of the most convincing aliens of all time.... This is the biggest sci fi to come in a while.......
-
Jebus, everybody that has seen it is just raving about it. Two of my colleagues went and saw it yesterday and both were blown away by it.
Can't help but get even further hyped up now~
-
Go in hyped and come out surprised... thats what happened to me.
-
So I saw this yesterday. I gotta say I thought it was horrible. I'm not going to go on a rant about it unless someone wants to know because I spent the last day being the lone voice of dissent. I wouldn't even call it disappointment, about 50 minutes in I wanted to leave.
-
can i punt you in the face? ;D jk. you are the first i have ever heard to say that... and thats from all the forum threads i have read as well lol
